Ok, there are some threads and people talking about our crowds so far this year and the atmosphere and spirit at our home games. I agree that our crowds are down below where we should be and the atmosphere is non existent anymore, our home games are depressing and it does not provide good support for the boys on the field.

This leads me on to the current official supporters area "The Kennel". This experiment simply hasnt worked. Yes it has gotten rid of alot of the trouble makers and that i am really pleased with but what it also has done, is robbed the good fans of creating a decent atmosphere in a massive stadium that badly needs it. The reason i feel us good ans have been robbed is with the removal of the drums away from the area that they were designated for. People signing up to the kennel are the only ones allowed to bring drums but this is not the case anymore, we cant bring them in either. This comes from security at the Manly game, where they let people not registered to play the drums, come in and play them. We let security know but nothing was done and as a result, the drums cant be brought in anymore even we are registered into the kennel, now i dont bring the the drum or play them but it adds to the atmosphere in our section and allows people to join in our efforts to get chants going.

So this brings me to an idea that christbella suggested to me as i made a previous thread regarding a similar issue. The idea is to keep the idea of "The Kennel" but instead of being treated like 2nd class fans and shoving us in the corner where we cant be noticed, our idea is to have the kennel area moved into a better position, on the 30m line or somewhere there (similar to the burrow). I will be willing to pay more for my season ticket to sit here and im pretty sure alot of the others would to. Also the drummers would be registered and official and no random people will be allowed to bring drums.

Now this area will still be members only and that will not change to how it is this year but what we think would work is to allow people to buy tickets into this area but only before game day (so pre-purchased seats) and by having it in category 1 seating, the trouble makers would be turned off and by allowing tickets to be purchased before game day, it allows people to trial the area and show to there friends why they should sign up.

Now by doing this, it would allow us fans who start chants and get behind the boys in a passionate way, and by being more centrally located it will allow more people around to join in and create a better atmosphere.

I just want to know what people think of this idea and if you have any other thoughts on what can be tweaked to this proposal. I believe that something like this or similar to this would work very well and help the crowds at our games.

I like the idea, as long as it keeps the trouble makers away though. Im not sure if the club would agree they are very strict with these types of rules and may not want to change the way things are know, and even though its dropped our numbers in someway i cant blame the club for banning the trouble makers. I think you should send an email to the club telling them what you just told us know, im sure they would take it into consideration.

The atmosphere know is just not there, and even though we had 18k which isnt bad, but it could have been better for 2 sydney teams fighting for 2 important points, 10k were probably dogs supporters maybe a bit more, maybe a bit less, and my concern is its not going to be a great crowd against the knights next week.

Putting "the Kennel" in a better position is the first step. The fact that it is in the corner where you can't see the game properly has kept me and others that I know from joining. Wack it on the 30m line and that's half your problem solved.

Im not sure

It sounds good in theory, but will the seats fill up. I dont know if the club would want half filled bays just to please a few fans, when they they can easily fill it up with normal seating arrangements

that is a really good idea....i mean the other night my eye glanced towards that corner and it looked really empty....to be seated in catagory one seating would deffinetly only attract maybe those that can afford to pay 150-250 dollars a season....then allowing pre purchased tickets is a good idea as they will be good seating and ur also guranteed a good atmosphere...i think this yr for someone like me this yr maybe out of the question as im still in yr 12 and am lucky in an off week when im free to actually go to a game...but i was actuallt quite coincidently speaking to my brother the other night telling him that next yr with a bit more fee time on my hand and ill b 18 i would get to more games and was considering becoming a member...so if this does go ahead i think its great and i would deffinetly be up to...for the fact that i now im sitting next to passionate supporters who dont cause trouble and are actually there to watch a game of footy not cause trouble...so yea...(sorry bout the length but in a description mood 2nyt...)

Soemthing has definitely got to happen. At the last two home games the Tigers and Manly chants were louder than our own. If we want to create any atmosphere at all we need to get the most vocal fans to congregate in one area of the ground.

From alot of the forums i have been too - reserved seating peeps dont like the drums... so chances are the club would like to suit thier needs more than the kennel - os they pay more? i dunno...

ill be willing to pay more and i would even sit there without the drums, just a big group of loud passionate fans in the middle of the stadium will help spread it around the ground

thats true... i dont think the ppl in the chairmans lounge behind 132 would like to see a supporters group banging drums... holding bannerss up... waving big flags around and chanting obscene things on the field.

I like the idea but not going to happen

Thats what i was thinking. Thats why they whould be registerd drums and made to promise no beats are played, just in-sync with chants etc (or they can be confiscated)...

Really good idea, id be the 1st one there

i like the idea i mean the atmosphere at our home games have been poor imo and this could definately improve it...hopefully the club would take this move seriously because as season ticket holder i wanna be able to go to games and achieve the atmosphere that we used to generate in the past....if enough people bring it up as a concern then im guessing that the club would have to respond to it, because us as fans make up alot of the club and we wanna be able to generate as much atmsophere to help our boys out on the field

ditto. i can't see how they would comply with this.

is the burrow on the members side?
yes the burrow is on the members side in aisle 132... id like to have one there as well but it is very unlikely that will happen

I would love to see the "kennel" crowd band together at home games. I know alot already do however the ground position is ordinary.

I look forward to away games - more fun

mmm i know what you mean. I'm also in year 12 and can't get to games every week even though I would absolutely love to. I go to as many games as possible and next year I'm also considering to get a membership because I know I will be able to make heaps more games next year than I can this year. I reckon moving the seating of the kennel would be a great idea.
