Manly leading into the finals and needing a top 5/6 position stepped up their performance, cowboys tonight too. We didn't keep up

You can't look at earlier rounds (ie the sharks game) as sides are just pacing themselves for the finals and going through the motions, wanting to do enough to get wins.

It's the step up in performance from other sides, where we haven't been able to answer

how could we have stepped up with two debutants and hutch in the middle?

I don’t think we have up… I think the game favoured cows in every department…. Hutch knock on with momentum and the intercept just killed us. Burtons boot getting us out of trouble was a bigger loss. You can’t keep a team with outside backs bigger then our forward pack away from the try line if we keep knocking on and making mistakes. Our season is done no matter what… if Gus doesn’t sign a couple of agile big body weapons in he offseason then expect another mid table position next season.
 
I think we can match them go in with our team back and plan it we will Win against manly next week!!!
 
We have played above ourselves this season. We have won games we weren’t the better team. Our style has confused teams but now we have been worked out. It would need a miracle to turn this around against a red hot Manly at Brookvale.

We have fallen off a cliff

Kurt Mann is our biggest loss.

CC has a lot to learn as a coach. He just doesn’t have the guile to make changes on the run. His team selections offer show he doesn’t see the problems that are in front of him.

We need to find some quality middles with size and go forward for next year. The small ball revolution has been worked out.

forwards are the same what we have had the entire season yet we are in top 6.

Errors and some key players missing killed us tonight.
 
We made too many errors and didn't have the size to keep tackling their forwards...
What worked well in prior weeks is our attack moved the ball around and tired the opposition forward pack. We then used our speed to stifle their attack and defend everything they throw at us...
This type of game plan doesn't allow for errors and gifting opposition free ball at multiple occasions.... especially not passing it to them so many times... I'm sure Gus will have his say and help Ciro out to bring us back to where we need to be next week.

If you look at our record against the good teams in the comp, small ball never worked, it only did against the lesser teams
 
This is exhibit A for having a loss just because we have been winning too much. You never want to lose because you lose momentum and for everyone that has played any competitive sport - it's very hard to get the mojo back.

The players out didn't cause the huge amount of errors and weak middle defence. Make no mistake, we have definitely lost the mojo. Hopefully we can find it in a week.
 
Nah this is the end unfortunately. I still think we have a bottom 4 forward pack on paper (thought this in pre season). Its showed the last two games against good packs. Gus palming away/us not coughing up much for any forward on the market means we are either developing within or we’re running this small ball shit system for as long as Ciraldo is coach which I think is a rubbish thing to maintain as its clearly not sustainable as we looked pretty burnt and fucked right now.

Yh he actually got subbed off for Hayward but then came back on when Clark went off and then stayed on for the rest of the game. The bloke is an absolute pillow in defence, 48 of the softest tackles ever.

We haven’t fallen from anything i disagree we have made the finals and beaten the odds and that’s a plus!!!

Our season is not done yet THE BULLDOGS will go very hard next week they aren’t done play quick play smart kick to corners use that defence system we have had bring it back we will have our players back!!! Massive in for next week
