In my opinion to become a top 4 side and potential premiers the dogs are missing in these positions...

2.DWZ
3.Hoppa
4...…..
5.Smith
6. Wakeham / Lewis / Coggar
7. Wakeham / Lewis / Coggar

What's you're say?

I would want a well-rounded squad.

DWZ as fullback is OK. He runs the ball back hard, makes good yard, and yesterday with the tap on to Meaney, you can see he does have attacking ability. In terms of bang for buck, I would say DWZ should be our fullback for the future. No need to throw big money on Trbojevic - plays origin and might get injured, better having a safe option.

Okunbor and Reimis Smith as wingers. I think these two are great and should play every game. Meaney can go.

For centres, Hoppa and Harper (in the future). Keep Holland as a backup. I am not entirely convinced he is totally useless. He does have attack potential

Five Eighth and Halfack: Make the most out of Foran and get him to teach the young halves. Keep all three of Lewis, Cogger, Wakeham. On cheap money and I am sure that at least one of them would become a decent player. I would want a combination of Cogger/Lewis going forward, although Wakeham looks very good as well. Get a solid team first, then lure an expensive half... no half is going to want to come to us right now.

Forwards: Tolman - defence and good run metres. Ogden/Napa for the other spot or maybe even Fualalo. I liked Napa last night.

Second Row: CHN, stimson. all good here

Lock: Jackson. Great tackler keeps defence tight

Hooker: Get someone

Bench: Fualalo, Ogden, Kalache + Utility in the future.

This should be the plan for next year at least.

Leave Dallin at fullback and i would go hard for Ramian and Possibly curtis Scott if not young Jake Averillo from the 20s has first grade written all over him. Probly Centre

Most liekly our team next yr but maybe you should consider we have plenty of money to spend and want to win a premiership not be a fringe 8 team in the years to come.

I like DWZ at FB but still think he can do what he does now from the wing. Would just love a deadly FB who keeps opponents on their heals every time his around the ball.

The thing about Ramien is his a right side centre and doesn't pass much which means Smith has no hope of seeing any ball... Similar to Scott. Both guns but is it what we need?

Haven't really seen Jake play much tbh so ill take your word for it and look out for him.

Nice team. Well balanced.

Though I don't think DWZ is a premiership winning FB in todays field and Hoppa is class, may need him around on trophy day.

Also toss up between jmk and Lewis as utility atm, we need a 80min primed hooker.

For next year i chose;

Ramien - obviously been released
Scott - Storm are looking at offloading him?
Welch - Off contract this year?
Luke Thompson - Apparently we have been chasing him all year

From 2021 onwards there is obviously a lot of players off contract. In an ideal world we would target a superstar 1 and 9. A 7 would help as well.

For next year, DWZ has to stay at FB and JMK needs to stay at 9. (Unless better options become available at the right price)

Re-signing Hoppa would depend on what stocks we have, so for now it is unknown for the 2021 season and onwards.

I'm not a fan of Lewis one bit in the halves and he just hasn't got it as a half. He is another Mbye minus the speed. Would keep Lewis on the bench and use him to play utility as a lock until he fully develops physically, which would also force him to run straight and hard and not sideways.

DWZ should be left at fullback.

We definitely need a quality half, I'm not sure about the 3 mentioned in the OP and how they'll develop over time. I can't see us being a premiership threat with those three as the options in 2021.

I'm also unsure on Hoppa, he does have some great qualities but there's things missing too. Alot would depend on what type of money he would get and the other options available at the time.

I must be blinking when JMK looks like a hooker. Why not Lewis to hooker as we all agree he can defend and can kick, and this then opens up a spot in the halves for Wakeham as least for the rest of the year. Foran should be fit by the start of next year so we then can reassess as we will have 4 halves to choose from as we will hopefully have a specialist hooker signed by then.

Foran is not in the future plans. Unfortunatley, he is done and dusted. We wont be winning a comp next year with or without him.

Playing Foran just holds back the future development and combination of the spine all together.

Foran can finish off his Dogs contract, playing injured in Cup or can look for another club.

Lewis is not a half let alone a hooker. Lewis cannot kick if his life was dependent on it

Agree on Hoppa, if we sign a quality half back (I’m Not opposed) we will have 5 half’s, I also want to see more of Wakeham this year as he shows promise (the halves are certainly a dilemma).

That looks about right to me. I'd be happy with DWZ sticking it out in the no 1 though. He has shown some class touches and runs the ball back with great vigor. He is coming along nicely and is showing he deserves that jumper. I'd like to see what he is capable with a full year in the no 1 jumper.
I posted a while back that I thought Lewis could become our no 9, but after more consideration, I'd like to see him bulk up and transition to lock. People say that the old school version of a ball playing lock are over, but look at players like Cameron Murray and you might also argue that these type of locks are making a comeback.
We definitely need a class hooker. Personally I'd like that player to be Brandon Smith, not Korisau, and Tamien would obviously be a good choice in the centres, and a realistic option.
At least one quality prop is still needed. But not 2. Ogden and To'omaga should be given more time.

I get the feeling after watching us play last night, that we are not completely terrible, we are just missing those few key players to win consistently. We are just missing that final pass, that great line into a gap, the right decoy run, or powerful hitup, to just gel it all together. Stimson will help, but if we can sign a quality centre or hooker for next year I think we can really improve.

You realise with him not at fullback we still on the bottom of the ladder.

After last night absolutely nothing changes, the same changes I wanted before the game are still the ones I want now.
When I used to wish for things or say how much I wanted something, my dad used to say, "wish in one hand, and shit in the other, and tell me which one gets full first". The point being, we wont be massively overhauling our team next year. We will be lucky to make a few small changes. 2021 is obviously the big changing of the guard, but as I understand it, this thread is more about next year, hence the limited changes.

Welcome glad to see your conviction and willingness to speak your mind.

I just think Lewis is worth a go at hooker instead of Lichaa or JMK. But then again I have also suggested Meaney & Crichton to be tried this year in our other problem area centres.

I just don’t want to die wandering.

Anyway once again welcome.

Lewis' kicking game was pretty spot on last night IMO.
