Josh Addo-Carr won't return to NRL action in time for NSW's State of Origin series opener while Canterbury teammate Viliame Kikau is expected to spend at least three more months on the sideline.

The latest update on the star duo provides a shattering double blow for the Bulldogs.

Addo-Carr has not played since he suffered a syndesmosis injury against South Sydney on Good Friday when his ankle rolled on the Accor Stadium turf.

The flying winger suggested earlier this month he was hopeful of returning within five weeks of the injury, in time from NSW's Origin series opener against Queensland in Adelaide on May 31.

But the Bulldogs confirmed on Thursday that was not realistic.

In an official injury update on their website, Addo-Carr is now predicted to return in six to eight weeks, with the club eyeing a comeback in round 15 against Parramatta.

That would leave the 27-year-old only one match to push for NSW selection in Origin II on June 21.

It comes after incumbent NSW winger Daniel Tupou suffered a hamstring tear in the Sydney Roosters' Anzac Day win over St George Illawarra.

Brian To'o appears locked in on one wing for NSW, but the options are now limited on the other with Tom Trbojevic one possibility to play out wide while introducing Campbell Graham in the centres.

The news is also bad for Kikau.

When the high-profile recruit ruptured his pectoral muscle earlier this month the club expected him to spend at least 10 weeks on the sideline.

However, the predicted return has now blown out far longer, with his anticipated return now on July 30 in round 22 against the Dolphins.

"Scans revealed a full rupture and he has since undergone repair surgery and is recovering well," the Bulldogs said in a statement.

"He will now begin his rehabilitation process and the club will work with the relevant medical professionals to manage his injury post operatively."

So Kikau pretty much signed a 3 year deal with us. Season is over by round 22. Even if he does return at the end of the season, he won't be match fit.

I was only looking forward to the Foxx and Kiks returning, couldn't give 2 fvcks about Thompson or Patolo.

It’s a sh!t sandwich but on the bright side, it gives someone an opportunity to step up from Cup.

we shouldn’t right off finals just yet, still 19 rounds remaining and the next 4 weeks are winnable.

Next four weeks winnable
Meaning losing streak will hit 7 straight
Off-season training program needs massive over haul and rather that bonding sessions practice tackling and defence and skill we suck in all aspects

Kikau needs to be shut down for the year . Pointless coming back playing just 3/4 games in a lost season then get injured again . Give him full offseason to recover well

Trying to see a positive.
Gives our young recruits some experience and CC learns more about what our 2024 squad needs to look like.

So far, we need a 7, a fullback, a centre and a couple of forwards.

Crichton wow, Xerri (hope he can play) plus?

How many training sessions have you attended? Do you have intimate knowledge on what all the sessions involved? I don’t think you would have the same view if you did..

We don’t need a centre. We have Alamoti, Skelton, Xerri already.

Once Papali’i is ready, Crichton may potentially have to be shifted to centres.

If any of Oloapu, BBO, Rajab, etc. succeed as halves, Burton can be shifted to centre.

Averillo, if kept as depth or even as a utility, is also capable to fill in at centre.

Just to add that a lot of these may be some time away or may be on potential. However, I think it won’t be an issue even from next year.
1. Crichton
2. JAC
3. Alamoti
4. Xerri
5. Kiraz

More fkwits shitting on kiks for a freak accident, mad
That's all people do on here. Bad mouth our players just to look good. Not the crooked refs who fuck us over with there shit decisions and there refusal to give us the 50/50 calls. (Yes, they are a protected species on here).
