So you run Luai at 9 who has never played there? That would be more ridiculous than Fittler putting Gutho on the bench or Talakai.

Watson has played everywhere he's the ultimate utility, you either go him or you pick the two hookers in Korisau, they went the utility.

Pretty sure I've seen Luai cover at 9 for the Panthers because of injury before. He wouldn't be a worse 9 than Watson.

Anyway it's only if Robson gets injured. Thankfully I don't remember a Blues 9 ever being injured before so the odds of it happening are very low.

You guys want to put an average fooballer on the bench just incase something that might never happen happens. Thats a terrible strategy & cowardly.

Put Api or Watson 18th man incase then.

He may have played a few minutes here and there, Watson has played full games there big difference between doing it here and there with a sin bin or whatever and doing it a whole game, just defensively you are being asked for 3 times the tackles. They were never changing more than they had to, Ola was completely useless so he deserved to be punted and Trell was injured. Just won by 30 you aren't changing more than you have to anyway.

Korisau is more of a utility than Burton these days anyway, Burton is a specialist half now, it's been 4 years since he's played centre.

Korisau only plays 9 or 7. That isn't a utility. Burton was the Dally M Centre of the year in 2021 & played centre at Origin in 2022 so your math is totally off.

That's 3 seasons ago, 3 or 4 makes no difference, hasn't played a game there since bar the disaster for us 3 weeks ago and it was horrific. If you don't have coverage at 9 you are running an almighty gamble. Yes we'd like a Ben Hunt style of utility but we don't have one. It's either Watson or maybe Hynes but Hynes can't pay 9 either and is in terrible form. Small difference is Trell is actually elite at centre, and a genuine gamewinner, who should have been in game 1. If we picked him and not the spud game 1, we'd have already been 2-0 up. Your utility on the bench has to cover hooker, it's the one position you have to cover, they aren't putting Luai at 9, or worse Murray at 9. Why not take the best utility, if you don't use them so be it, qld may not use Ponga if all things go well.

I have no issue picking Burton at 6 actually, he's close to the form 6 in the game, said before game 2, I'd have gone Luai at 7/Burton at 6 personally. Picking him at 14 or whatever it is does not suit the side, if there's no injuries where is he playing? Least you can run Watson as a smaller backrower.

The option I'd have considered though is Drinkwater, who can play in the middle a bit like Ponga but also cover halves an FB (not that you need FB covered usually)

I think Mahony will play, Grant has been hot garbage the last two games, Grant will get a training 'injury' and Mahony will get his chance to become another QLD legend, Get us home reed
