So i see the NRLol has madeanother rule on the fly. Thankfully, this is a great one. Each team can name an 18th man that can be used if 3 players or more are injured, or if a player has to leave the field due to an illegal act.
Thoughts?? Personally, i love it! Is it even new though? Wasnt this how it was in tbe past? Or is my memory playing tricks on me?

This is just papering the cracks, Vlandys has to go and the six again needs to be removed as soon as possible.
Totally agree. Its him just covering his ass because he realises that there are too many injuries occuring do to the 6 again bullshit he created.

I was watching the kayo mini and the commentators said it could be used if more then 3 full game injuries occur, including HIA, or if a player is taken out illegally. Remember when Sua took out Lewis last year, we could have replaced him with our 18th man.

I think the 18th man has to be a development player. They had some statistics in the telecrap the other day that in the last 2 years the 18th man would have been used only once. Another shit rule that has a development player sitting on the sidelines every week denying him the opportunity to development himself in the lower grades.

No, not a development player any more. New rules are:

Yes. There was a rule for many years that if a player had to go off for an illegal act (via send off offence) then the injured player's team could bring in someone as an 18th player. I think I only saw it used once in one of our games against Balmain years ago. Balmain used the extra man.

Thanks Chisdog. I am so glad they changed their mind about that. I really like the idea of it now. I have always hated teams being disadvantaged by an act of foul play. Still wish they'd fuck off the 6 again though.

Too many players would not play though!
I don't have an issue with that. I think NRL teams need bigger squads and game day squads to help with load management. You also get more flexibility with your interchange allowing coaches to bring on a specialist if a key player goes down or look to bring on someone to change a game if a key player is underperforming.

Not likely , but anything’s possible in the NRL :tearsofjoy:

At this point I'm waiting for a new rule where if a team leads by 20 points they get rewarded by getting a second football in play like in pinball. It wouldn't make sense or be in the spirit of the game to make the defending side have to defend two separate players at once, but what does make sense about the game anymore.
