Our current roster is weak as piss....

though, they should find an established coach ASAP and have him in just after Origin is done and dusted
We defenitely need a new coach, no way am I copping another season like this. I really think this board will gamble and just hope the fans blind faith gets them through this period

A good coach could take the squad we have to the top 8. A coach is supposed to get the best out of his players.

I think the board know/need not only a new coach, but a coach who can attract players?!

Who is out there? Not much available in those regards?

I think we need to recruite an entire team - Coach, 2 assistant coaches, specialist halves/forwards coach

This board is milking the fuck out of this cap drama. Swear they're just going to fuck us for two seasons straight so they can sell the club with a relatively empty roster to an established coach.
To a coach that they already have in mind *hint *hint family member.

I agree.

Toovey is switched on and you can tell that he is edging to get back out there.

Around Toovey you throw a support staff/team like Kimmorley, Ennis and the likes

btw who the fuk is our wrestling coach? Our wrestling is getting worse each year

I have a feeling players like Tolman, Jacko, Hoppa and Foran are on close to $1 mill a year

Hence why I never renewed my membership.

I'll always support the club and team, but not by throwing away my money and being treated like a dumpty by an incompetent board and imbeclic coach

So in summary, squad wont change but coach will.

Not many good established coaches available but i hope its done sooner rather than later

It's all over for Pay.

Grahame Hughes literally told Rothfield, that Pay is gone if the performances dont improve, and its safe to say that the performances will only get worse now as the rounds go by.

Hughes just gave Rothfield something to write about for the next 3 months

It certainly does seem odd how the fuck $9 mill is being spent on this team
Des and co chose to fuck the future for a chance to win 1 - 2 premierships. They did this by trying to assemble the best possible talented roster they could, fitting them in by back ending the contracts and worrying about the fact they would no longer be able to sign anyone as the back end of those contracts came to pass. And even have to move some stars on to manage it.

Des is a fierce competitor and he thought his cunning plan was going to yield results. It backfired and so badly, that the counterbalance of having a lower salary cap is now the other side of the swing. Bend far enough and the rubber band is going to snap back! Hence, we all may be confused about where the money went, but it went into all those stars that got into 2 grand finals! Win 1 or 2 of them and suddenly we are back feeling satisfied. But what they did not count on is how overpaying for players because you have this back-ending strategy makes you spoil them too. Players like Mbye were not meeting the price tag and it was frustrating. Then they did not count on demoralising the team by moving on the most passionate of our players like Josh and Graham.

The greed to play the system was a big gamble and we lost big. The board and Des had to go - but now we are trying to move through the counterbalance phase that is taking 3 years and we are only half way through it.

No point whinging about it - it has happened and the current board don't have magic wands.

Yeah but even back then after 2013 we had no gamebreaker superstars. I just can't work out where the money went. No matter which way you look at it, the roster for 5 years has been low key but paid way way too much...only explanation.

Money is there we just don't want to spend it. The proof is in Saddler and Olive being in the top 30, new board made this happen so it's easy for them to say our hands are tied... write off our season and makes it easy to lay the blame on previous board. Can't say I agree or disagree with the method, but that's the way I see it.

Foran takes up $1.3m in 2020. Jackson, Tolman, Hopoate are backended at 900k each for 2020.

That leaves you about $5.5m for 26 players which is an average of about $211k per player.

I think we are all missing the biggest point, and that is, we have Sweet Fark All in 3rd party sponsorships.

yes we were very unlucky because there seemed to be a bulletproof glass ceiling on 4 - 5 of our highest paid playmakers that did not develop to the level they should have. Josh, Mbye, Lichaa, Hokko. They had glimpses of being great but kept crashing in form. It was like we were either jinxed or Des overcoached them.

Hughes literally says fuck all.. and I watched it twice?
It was hard to make sense of what he was saying. Certainly not clear and concise. Obviously he was constrained in lashing out at Buzzflog with facts and was just nashing his teeth to a certain degree.
