Our season was over before it started!

For the fans with the Blue n White goggles on, if you think it aint over now, undress yourselves and go stand in the shower under the cold tap for a couple of hours.

We keep hearing the word "re-build"? They say we have started, but have we?

What lies ahead for 2020 and beyond?

Meaney, Napa, CHN, Ogden, Crichton, Whoopi are safe for the next few years!

What is happening next year? Jackson, Tolman, Foran, Cogger, Lewis, Hoppa, Holland, JMK, Elliott and the remainder are off contract!

Pay and the board are off contract.

6, 7 & 9 is off contract. Foran should not be re-signed while Cogger & Lewis do not look like long-term options

Who will they re-sign? Which new players will come in?

So take your blue n white goggles off and enlighten me;

- When does the re-build really begin?

- When are we going to have a settled spine and coach?

- Who are our outside backs and forwards?

- WHEN DOES THIS RE-BUILD BEGIN AND WITH WHO?

When you put it like that, than i guess we truely are fucked.

The only explanation i have for next year is that we will be rebuilding the rebuild

We are starting to rebuild while still knocking down the old house. We can’t really move forward until the last back ended contract is finished and we have 100% freedom in the cap. 2020 is the key year with so many contracts finishing. Hopefully the younger players have experience and are fully fledged NRL players by then. The rest of this year should be used to get as much game time in players that are in the long term plans and anyone that’s not getting re-signed at the end of this year should be in reggies.

To the moon an back lol..!!!!!

Seriously, we are completely screwed.. to see improvement next year we need the following to Happen..

1. New coach
2. Complete clean out
3. Specialist signings
4. Plodders and deadwood gone
5. Game plans/structures
6. Interchanges that work

That’s a few crucial things to start with..!!

Dreams are free, and you gotta keep hopes high :innocent:

Forans with us till end of 2020, and is one of few players putting in at the moment.. Without him we'd be lucky to have won a single game this year.

I cannot believe we are in a situation where we are THAT backlogged with contracts, given players already released elsewhere and subsequentely resigned by those sides.

I believe the board are using it as an excuse to buy time, time they don't really have.

If Feb 2021 rolls on by and we haven't made any marque signings or improved much, the board will go... that I can almost 100% believe. 1 years pathetic performances I can excuse, 2 years is taking the piss.

That'd be like a company employing someone and they turn around and go "thanks for the job, but don't expect me to work really hard until my probations over and I've been in work her for a few years". It's a gigantic pisstake.

The club need to get a voice and start explaining in specifics exactly what the fuck the plan is, because the only one I can see at the moment, is a plan going backwards at a rate of knots. They need to explain why a rookie unproven coach was extended despite poor performances, and why players are unhappy with a coach who (by all reports) is pushing more players away than he's encouraging.

If we continue on the current trajectory I can see 2020 being WORSE. We will lose fringe players and (being an unattractive prospect), only sign up players looking for a quick cash grab with our club.

Fans are patient, but that patience wears thin when half way through a so called rebuild we've gone backwards.

Heck I'm sure Des wouldn't have the current playing group in the same state.

Mate stop stressing about the Dogs, they will continue to let us all down, its best for everyone to just check themselves out for a while, show the club that if they aren't going to produce first grade level footy on the field then we aren't going to buy tickets to see a shit show.

Look at our team:
- We have rookie fullback who has shown some good moments
- One decent winger who never gets the ball and then a bunch of shit players who fight for the other spot
- Two very average centres
- A marquee half who has moments of brilliance yet is always injured and then two young halves who look okay at best
- A very average pack with one or two quality players
- We don't even have a proper hooker
- A below par bench
- A coach who has won about 7 games ? across his NRL career
- A spineless board

The question for me is once we free up cap space, who's going to want to play for us?? As I said before, we need to be the best at with whatever has nothing to do with cap space, eg, recruitment, trainers, medical staff, front office, back of office, cleaners, every single position within the club, hire the best of the best of everything.... then focus on the coaching staff and having a talented young core of players, once we have that in place, the big name players will start signing!

Until then it going to be the usual ""great effort from the boys we only lost by 21" and "yes I know it's 2050, but rebuilding takes years, look at Parramatta"....

Watching footy is meant to be entertaining on some level.. our fans now suffer from blood pressure , anxiety and depression from watching us play..

The least the club can do is open a chemist and hand out free meds for the health problems its caused its fanbase..

regarding the roster, the re-build ends going into the 2021 season. either pay will get 1 more year or a new coach will be signed. i think more then half those players mentioned will be resigned. 2 transfer windows to sign/replace players. i'm pretty sure we're sitting on 1-2m cap space as is (after removing top ups for this season). the players that come into our spine, backs, etc can be anyone off contract so just a guessing game. we're going to have to over pay or give long contracts to get players to come tho. looking at this season we need a centre, hooker and winger for next season and reevaluate end of 2020.

I just don't understand why the board aren't talking more. Go into the dressing room, tell Pay to go have a shit, and ask the players if they are happy. Ask if they need anything more to perform better.

Then sit Pay down and ask if he needs help (it's obvious the bloke is struggling and needs the calm head of an experienced coach alongside him). Griff is helping with ARU at the moment but surely can spare some time to work with Pay.

At the end of the day, the fans shouldn't be suffering because of the boards inability or inadequacies to grow a set and start asking questions.

This perfectly describes the board at the moment... sitting around whilst rome burns without a single shit being given.

1: Pay should be fired before the end of the year. Keeping him any longer makes no sense and delays any chance of a turnaround.

2: Recruit a young, progressive, attacking coach who has modern training methods, tactics and can relate to the players, unlike the old school, negative, safety first defensive coaches we've had with Hasler and Pay... Holbrook or O'Brien would be the perfect appointments.

3: Keep trying to sign the best young players from other clubs, not their third or fourth best player at that position like they mainly have in the past... Give our own youngsters more game time like Ogden and give Wakeham, Harper, Katoa and To'omaga a shot at FG

4: Any or all of Tolman, Jackson, Foran, Hopoate, Holland and Elliott should be shopped to get even more cap flexibility and not have to wait til 2021 to be able to spend some money. If they want to rebuild, then don't half ass it and go all out. None of those players justify their salaries.

5: Get the Board and Chairman to use the power they are supposed to provide and create enough business relationships and financial backing to recruit top or three high profile players by 2021 by matching and surpassing the TPA's that the top 4 clubs do. It's a farce that a financially strong club like ours have fallen behind so badly in TPA's..

Which is exactly what Dib would have done but was just delaying it till after the election.

Your whole post is based on assumptions you have somehow conjured up. You know zero about what's going on behind closed doors, just like everyone else who is bagging the board.
Seriously, what more could the board have done up until now?? They got rid of all the deadwood so as to give us some cap breathing space, signed a good'n in CHN, and in the process of restructuring our recruitment and retention committee.
Signing Pay for another year may not have been a great idea in hindsight, but the reason to do so was to give some clarity moving forward. No player will sign with a club if they dont know who is coach. And let's just imagine where we would be now if we still had mbye and woods on the books??
Yes we are in a shit place right now and we are all sick k of words used to describe this situation, like rebuild, but that's what it is, like it or not. This is a process and it wont happen overnight. We have no choice but to be patient.

Nothing is going to change with our current CEO and coach.

Our club has always been a powerhouse, never in my life can I remember not at least being competitive of finals footy. And if we miss the finals it is rare abberation.

Now everyone seems to accept a broke ass Newcastle Nights 3-5 year rebuild. Get f£%cked, that is not the Bulldogs "DNA"!

Time for this board to show what connections they have, what kind of deals they can pull off and make some bold moves.

I personally don't have much hope in their capabilities.

We need to start seeing an overhaul before there is a coup.. the longer we stay down and out the more we become destabilized and the harder it becomes to fix things.
