There's a reporter (Mark St John) for Fox Sports who is deadset throwing out darts left, right and centre.
August 6, 2018 8:26pm - Panthers chasing Ivan Cleary to get him back.
August 6, 2018 9:20pm - Bennett could forego final year of Broncos contract to head to Panthers.
I cannot see them getting back Cleary. He's contracted until end of 2020 with Tigers, and there is no way he can cry "homesickness".
If he was to walk on the Tigers (apart from it being hilarious and turning the club back into a cesspool of failure), I reckon the Tigers would sue his arse for breach of contract. Not to mention they may have a case to sue the Panthers for enciting Cleary to breach his contract.
It'd be hilarious also if Cleary stayed at the Tigers, and Tigers managed to drag Cleary over. Fans would want Gould's head.
Another thing, the removal of Griffin could cause a number of juniors coming through to reconsider the coaching stability of the club (moving forwards) and sign elsewhere.

Tigers won't let Cleary go as Panthers discuss possible return

Wests Tigers chairwoman Marina Go has declared she expects Ivan Cleary to see out his contract at the club despite interest from Penrith to reunited him with son Nathan at the Panthers.
Anthony Griffin’s sacking, which was revealed by NRL.com on Monday, has opened the door for Cameron Ciraldo to assume the role of caretaker coach for the rest of the year.
However, it is understood the Panthers approached Ivan at the end of last month about the possibility of returning to his old club, where his son plays, to replace Griffin next year.
Wests Tigers would be surprised if their coach tried to gain a release to return to Penrith given the characteristics that Ivan values, and also the circumstances in which he was punted by the Panthers three years ago.
Go was adamant the club expected Ivan to see out his current deal which expires at the end of 2020.
"It is my view that Ivan will be with the Wests Tigers as head coach for at least another two years as he has a contract with us," Go told NRL.com on Monday night.
Ivan has also played a huge part in luring a number of players to the Wests Tigers and if he were to depart next season, it wouldn’t go down well with many at the club.
The Tigers have made no secret of their desire to sign Nathan when he comes off contract at the end of next season.
