I'd rather too but if we extended Thompson he would get 300-400k (still too much imo). Thompson at 850k was massive overs for his output - bad deal.

I don't mind the signing considering everything. I think he was fine in his last year at Rooster but I haven't watched him play in England or followed his recent injuries so it's a little hard to judge for me. I do see the risk tho.

Well. At a minimum at least it will give the usual suspects something to whine about in here. I see it as a calculated risk when there not a lot of other options. Last couple of games I saw him play in the ESL he want okay. Will improve our shit pack, add experience as long as on the field

I believe SST has 10 years in the NRL and as result qualifies for the $300k Veteran Player Allowance. Which I believe we will lose if/when RFM departs.

Hence SST may well only cost us an effective $200k if (a very big if) the media spin $500k is the case.

Sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

What's calculated about signing a player that said he was done as an NRL player and went for a holiday in France where he could barely stay fit? It's pure casino. The club just isn't capable of pulling off anything better at this point.

It’s calculated because if he plays well it will be good value. I think he has a couple of years in him….maybe. lol Not fkn sure but I can’t be negative all off season.

So what!

Almost 5 years ago I decided I’d had enough, after 3 months got a phone call, had a chat, put some thought into it and the business is now 4 times the size.

Lots of thing change given time.
