What I’d like to see is the club move on from Averillo because there are better options within and beyond.
I appreciate your comments mate, you’re generally on the mark and yes Oloapu might be better, but shouldn’t we find that out via short bursts off the bench instead of the hard way.Who knows what it actually was, but forget about the transfer fee, what if Oloapu is just better? Averillo seems like he'd be the perfect utility that can cover any backline or halves position off the bench in case there are injuries. He's a good squad player but has yet to master any one position. Yes he's been moved around a lot and shown a lot of nice glimpses of his talent but he also has just as many flaws in his game at each of those positions.
Yeah I tend to agree that 14 could be his spot. He has talent but the one thing hurting him seems to be he’s scared of contact. It will come in time but he seems timid at times.Who knows what it actually was, but forget about the transfer fee, what if Oloapu is just better? We don't need an Einstein to work out that Oloapu is highly rated by our club...What about Oloapu? They didn't pay a transfer fee for him so he could sit in Reserves for a few seasons..
Time is on his side, but needs to convince CC of that not us.Who knows what it actually was, but forget about the transfer fee, what if Oloapu is just better? KO is Gus' project. I'm sure he will play FG when Gus wants him to.We don't need an Einstein to work out that Oloapu is highly rated by our club...
I also know they are very happy with his progress and waiting for the right time for his debut.
Exactly mate, aside from defence he’s going ok, I was surprised with 19 tackle busts.I honestly don’t think he’s going as bad as people think he is this season at Centre under Ciro
Good info mate, my only gripe with Perham is his lack of intent on the ball, we saw that last week when the Sharks player out enthused him for the ball to score that try, and he’s allowed a couple of try’s by letting the ball bounce over the last few weeks.Perham has 4 try assists (2nd in the team) & 1 try so far in 8 games. Averillo had 1 try assist & 7 tries in his 11 games at Fullback last year. Comparable stats give or take.Avo had 3 line breaks in his 11 games, Perham has 3 in his 8 so far.
Perhams 144 metre average run metres per game is around 60 metres more per game than what we got out of Averillo at FB last year. Perham sits 6th in the comp for fullbacks in this stat.
It would be great to see him get more tackle busts, line breaks and tries. I think he has done ok so far and no more, and CC will persist with him. I can’t see Averillo being switched back there either based on the stats so far & pre season training etc
It's good to see both coach and general manager of football working together as they should.KO is Gus' project. I'm sure he will play FG when Gus wants him to.
I like the points you have brought up and I don't think we have anything to lose by trying Avo at 6Exactly mate, aside from defence he’s going ok, I was surprised with 19 tackle busts.
My point is I think we’d get more from him getting him at 6 closer to the action, he’s a dangerous ball runner great step and pass & I think we could really use that in a 6 at the moment, we have others that can handle that centre role.
that’s actually surprising and interesting…. Would love him to pick up the ball and run flat stick at the defence, he’d be near 200m a game… he prefers to jog to the line and jink his way through. Fullbacks could learn a thing or two from NFL punt returners, they go for maximum field position by sprinting the return to gain net yardage - if they jogged, they’d only get half the territory and field position.Perham has 4 try assists (2nd in the team) & 1 try so far in 8 games. True however I want Skelton at 14 next year, he can cover the backs while he transitions into a backrower.Averillo is the perfect utility. Covers a number of positions without the hype or talk of Mbye.
