My daughter does, she’s played footy (front row/second row) since she was 8yo.Who would seriously care or go watch them play if u had to pay to get in ?
Are you trying to form a new team because you have been told there is no room for you ANYWHERE in the club next year.....I am embarrassed to be a Bulldogs fan, fam. The fact it is now the year 2023 and we still don't have a women's NRL team is staggering. With all the talk of Gus being a great future planner, I ask you this - where is the planning for our expansion into the women's competition?
Now, I'm sure many of you knuckle dragging cavemen will be reading this thinking 'who cares, women don't belong on a footy field'. Bu that is an outdated and extremely limited way of thinking, my friends. The reality is, the women's game is the future.
I have a bold prediction - the women's game will have eclipsed the men's game in terms of popularity by 2070. How do I reach this conclusion? Simple mathematics. Over half the Australian population is female. Does it not stand to reason that eventually the women's game will become more popular than the men's game?
Butttt.... WoMeN aReN't As GoOd At SpOrTs!! The knuckle draggers will say. Nonsense. While men may be physically stronger, women are unquestionably smarter and more skillful... making for a more appealing product which is less about speed and brute strength and more about skill, strategy and nuance.
Furthermore, women are not complete animals. They are much less likely to bring the game into disrepute by committing sexual assault, beating up their spouses, taking dumps in hallways and stabbing church leaders. Less controversy makes for more sponsorship opportunities, greater sponsorship means more coverage and more coverage means greater popularity. It's just basic logic, la familars.
People have an unquenchable thirst for women's sports at the moment. Go down to your local watering hole and you're much more likely to hear punters discussing whether Lauren Jackson can lead the Albury Wodonga Bandits to glory than whether Lebron can do it one more time for the Lakers; more likely to hear people talking excitedly about Meg Lanning's comeback and Elyse Perry's return to form than about how much longer Warner or Smithy will keep going round; more likely to hear unnecessarily aggressive drunks debating whether Ali Brigginshaw can lead the Broncos back to the top than whether Cleary and Luai can help the Panthers threepeat.
As much as the lumbering misogynistic dinosaurs may loathe to admit it, women's sports are the future, baby! Trust me, as a current NRL player, I would jump at the opportunity to defect to the women's comp if regulations allowed it.
Trust me fam, when I say it is absolutely IMPERATIVE that members rally together and demand Gus explain to us how he plans to make our expansion into this veritable goldmine of a market a reality... before we get well and truly left behind.
There is an added bonus to us getting an NRLW team - it increases our chances of getting Millie Boyle to the club. While I think she would go very well in our men's NRL team and would out perform players like TPJ, the reality is the NRL is unlikely to sign off on Millie playing in the men's comp, so a women's team is the best way to entice the best prop in the game to our club. If we can get Millie to the club, we can also get Adam Elliott back - and we all know letting him go was a huge mistake. With a salary of a little under 500k, has developed into the best value for money lock in the game.
In summary, let's band together to make sure we get a women's team and attract league's biggest power couple since Wayne Bennett and Darius Boyd to the club, Together we can make it happen, baby!
My lawn's fast growing . . . Everyone come around and lets watch itWoman’s sports is the fastest growing sports out there. We should be supporting then not ridiculing
Who says I’m ridiculing? I’m just baiting misogynists like @Realist90 … who can’t stand to see women’s sports succeeding.Woman’s sports is the fastest growing sports out there. We should be supporting then not ridiculing
Nope. I’ve been told my future is in my hands…thus, my future is in very capable hands, baby! Are you trying to form a new team because you have been told there is no room for you ANYWHERE in the club next year.....
I've watched snippets of it on TV just like I have AFL and I have totally no interest in either. I doubt most women would be interested in watching skinny and fat chicks tackle each other also. If I were that desperate to watch an inferior game I'd prefer to watch Canterbury Cup where future stars for us would play, not some game with chicks (high proportion of who are gay) bashing each other with not one potential NRL player involved EVER.I am embarrassed to be a Bulldogs fan, fam. Its hardly misogyny to find nrlw boringWho says I’m ridiculing? I’m just baiting misogynists like @Realist90 … who can’t stand to see women’s sports succeeding.
Or maybe they just like Rugby League?I've watched snippets of it on TV just like I have AFL and I have totally no interest in either. I doubt most women would be interested in watching skinny and fat chicks tackle each other also. Everyone has different taste though and I suspect the guys really into women's rugby league also enjoy watching female cat fights, women's wrestling, mud fighting etc. Lingerie league as they play in the USA would be slightly more interesting but I wouldn't want to watch that either. If I want to see a tit I'll go watch porn. The only female sport I have slight interest in is tennis. Some desperados watch that hoping to see a flash of undies. Instead of sitting there for however long that takes my advice is to grab your laptop and surf the net for f..k's sake.
If you think it makes you a caveman for not liking the shit that's literally being shoved down our throat by those with PC interests get f..ked you desperado. We just don't like watching D grade shit sports like you do
Why? You like footy. Why can’t you enjoy the women’s game? Have you given it a chance? Because they play some really good footy. Better than us in the Pay/ Barrett years, yet you watched that week in, week out.Its hardly misogyny to find nrlw boring
WankerMy lawn's fast growing . . . Everyone come around and lets watch it
Each to their own..and again my read is proper pisstake this thread lol(how could you think nrlw is good/quality @Gun? Surely you jest, it just isn't).Why? You like footy. Why can’t you enjoy the women’s game? Have you given it a chance? Because they play some really good footy. Better than us in the Pay/ Barrett years, yet you watched that week in, week out.
I can't watch it for the same reason I don't watch English Super League or A grade footy at the local park. Sub standard competitions with sub standard players. I don't watch every game of NRL but I'd be much better off doing that than watching a game of a whole average competition. I don't watch us any longer when we're playing shit (getting thrashed) either. There's so many better things to do than watch any average, below average / crap footy. Try sex dude.Or maybe they just like Rugby League?
The women’s AFL is of a really poor standard, to be fair… but the women’s league comp is much more developed and women’s footy is stronger at grassroots level in league. The standard of the women’s comp is really high.
Yeah, the women’s AFL is a shit show. They just didn’t lay the groundwork and invest enough into developing the talent. The AFL expanded the comp before it was ready and it was a disaster lol
I like beef, should i eat mince when there is scotch fillet available? Why? You like footy. Why can’t you enjoy the women’s game? Have you given it a chance? Because they play some really good footy. Better than us in the Pay/ Barrett years, yet you watched that week in, week out.
