I really hope we win.
Living in Newcastle I do find myself going to a lot of knights games.
Often get free tickets.
I always go to the dogs games up here even if I have to buy the tickets as I did this year for this game.
No matter who the knights play, I always support the opostions.
Knights fans really annoy me.
And the song the knights play at the game is so arrogant it gets under my skin.
"This game is our game" is in the lyrics.
I never ever want our dogs to win more than against the knights at Newcastle.
As I have said in the few posts I’ve made on here before, I love and follow the game, no particular team.
And I have a particular interest in clubs going through re-builds so I have been following the Bulldogs,
Knights, Tigers and Gold Coast closely for some years.
I’ve added the Sharks to my list this year and might even have to add the Storm next year.
But you are kidding yourself. You wrote:
‘And the song the knights play at the game is so arrogant it gets under my skin. "This game is our game" is in the lyrics.’
The next line is: “This town is our town.”
League is a hugely popular game in Newcastle and there is a strong sense of community in towns / cities
like Newcastle that you don’t get in suburbs of Sydney. I think things like the earthquake and the closing
of the steelworks and the subsequent rejuvenation has added to that.
So yes, league is the most popular game played in Newcastle:
This game is our game.
And yes, it is their town that they love. You’re still there.
This town is our town.
And seriously, what about the Bulldogs song? Here’s one line.
“We’re the greatest in the league”
You can’t get more arrogant than that.
Fans of particular clubs are never rational, and a lot can be really annoying with how blindly biased
they are no matter how obviously wrong they are about different issues that come up.
I don’t care who wins today, just want to watch a good game.
But with Ponga, Best, Lee, Fitzgibbon, Mann, Randall and Thomson out, the Bulldogs should win.
Cheers,
RW
