We were building well the last 2 weeks yet took a massive step backwards today. Rotations are a fucking joke though, King has been our best forward and got absolute junk minutes. Baz has totally bottled it just because of a few unlucky moments and lack of polish over the opening two weeks.

I’m not a huge fan of Waddell but he was our best tonight.

Got no idea why King hardly played also, rotations are bizarre, it’s like Baz is so into the game, he forgets he’s the coach and has to make interchanges…
So into the game?? It’s like he isn’t at the ground

Only 3 forwards ran over 100m. Vaughan, JJ and Wads.

In those conditions we needed the forwards to dominate and they sucked overall. Not enough output from King, Patolo and TPJ. Naden was also down on hitups. It obviously didn't help losing Hethro.

Only positive Imtale from that game is our defence. At least we've been competitive and in with a chance in all matches so far. I actually believe the wet is bad for us now, because we need dry conditions for our agile backs to shine.
Yep
Our forwards were pretty poor tonight. If the currebt trend of underperforming players persists, jackson shoukd be benched.

TPJ has been very average, Soup has been pure shit, JMK shouldn’t be near a football, our edge defence has been terrible whoever is there, we were just as poor in attack with Wakeham as we are with Averillo… Jacko love the guy but the game has passed him by
Yeah feel the same way with Jacko, really liked the guy and he works hard but he has no speed, size or presence. Every time he makes a tackle the ball carrier walks another 3-4 steps off the mark as they get up and he simply wraps his arms around them and walks backwards with them. Even Jake Trbojevic who's not massive does it to him. It's embarrassing.

Agree we lost it in the middle. Our hit ups soft and slow, plus our ball movement even slower. I like Jackson but he has become our 4th tackle hit up bum... we don't have the street smarts of a good 7... we don't have any killer instinct...

Different point of view - our forwards did their job, the problem was more with our backs.

1. The run metres argument, only 2 Manly forwards got over 100, Tapau (123) and Keppie (105). Walker got over 100 off the bench but he is more of a utility. That is despite Manly having more of the ball. Our forwards were fine for their run metres. Of our backs only Dufty and JAC made over 100m. This wasn't a game with a lot of run metres in it, so that is a poor metric to make a judgement based on.
2. Defense - our forwards were entitled to get a bit of a break after all the work they did defending our line. They were immense.
3. Errors - our forwards made 2 errors between them. Our backs made 8.

What we failed to do was click in attack, our forwards did manage to get us into position a few times and we couldn't even get a repeat set. We need our backs to finish things off for us. Our forwards are largely what we have going for us right now, along with Burton's long bombs. We need a better distributing lock than what JJ offers, and we need our backs combining like Dufty and Burns did 6 or 7 times a game instead of just once.

A good hooker and we win tonight comfortably. Passes are rubbish especially when in the opposition red zone. Defence was awesome compared to last year and has been solid this year so far. I still think we’ll see our best footy in the second half of the year.

Burtons Goal kicking proved the difference in the end, they where relatively easy kicks for a first grade goal kicker, + we had them on the ropes in the first half at 8 - 6 and they went for a goal making 10 - 6 which gave Manly an opportunity to hit the front with a converted try which is exactly what happened + Josh Jackson is playing like Aiden Tolman wasting tackle after tackle with no meter gains

Yeah, our forwards did not aim up. The team looked passive and waiting for manly to run at us. I’m proud of the defensive efforts on the on the goal line. We will get better
We haven’t scored more than 2 tries in a game this season! That won’t win you many games. We were lucky it was a heavy track tonight too.
We still don’t have any game managers. Burton was exceptionally poor..
The 17 needs a couple of degrees of change. Stimson at 13 for Jackson he’s been poor in all 3 games; we need a ball playing 13.J Cook at 9 for JMK, dummy half service is atrocious.
We are in serious need of a game manager, as much as I hate to suggest but Baz needs to bite the bullet & bring Flanno into the top 20.
Baz’s game plans & utilisation of the interchange so far has been inept.
