It's a rare good idea from the NRL. Even if they have just stolen our idea for Oasis...
Quite.

Why not look at this idea again? Form a joint venture or at least form partnerships with other sports/teams or long term tenancies and own the stadium. Even the sharks, as much as they are ridiculed, own their own ground.

Oasis is a good idea. Council can upgrade surrounding areas...they have the cash, Dogs sell land for a profit to a consortium. State and Federal funding redevelop the whole precinct incl updated basketball arena and swimming pool. Ideally located on human highway and geographically central for Wests Tigers....and was the earmarked new home for the Dogs. I like it. With interest rates so cheap at present, the consortium could secure funding for whatever the State and Federal goats don't stump up.

100%. And if the boundaries realign in the juniors even worse case scenario the dogs get Liverpool into there catchment. Local kids will travel from surrounding suburb to play at Liverpool giving us a bigger catchment. It’s a win win especially if we could go it alone without the tigers or nrl

I would much rather we share a new custom built facility near the heart of Liverpool with a team that is never going to dominate the arrangements than keep playing in the heart of parra territory at a soulless echo chamber that gets used by a bunch of other teams AND sports.

Yeah the ideal would be Belmore, and hopefully as part of the arrangements they keep playing 1 or 2 games a year there, but the reality is Belmore is never going to be upgraded to the level of something like Bankwest or SFS. So in the real world, Liverpool would be great.

Not to mention that as we own the rest of the land, things like a Centre of Excellence can be built in the precinct and really draw talent from around the area. Who knows, maybe even build another leagues club in that land to bring in some extra money.

Only 20k? Did the club sell some land? Surely there's room for a 30-35k stadium there.
I think this is bullshit as it was marked for a clone of Suncorp, a hotel and casino and water park.

I say get rid of the shitty Canterbury race track and build our own Suncorp there.

Tigers already have like 2-3 stadiums that are "home" to them. Leichardt, Campbelltown Sports Stadium, and Stadium Australia. Do they really need another?

This just sounds like Vlandys wanting to have things in NRL ownership (remember the brain explosion of an idea about buying a 737-800 jet and using that to transport players around?)

The bloke lives with his head in the clouds and delusions of grandeur.

They say NRL made a profit, but how, given most games were closed to spectators resulting in huge losses in fan money.

The Tigers have two home grounds and so do we.
If they wanna milk a new market keep up the Gosford games, always a good day

I like it. Canterbury Park is ordinary and all premiere Sydney racing is Rosehill/Randwick with no prestigious events there. V’landys would likely oppose knocking a race track though being CEO of Racing NSW.

This would be very central, the heart of Bulldog territory (actually in ‘Canterbury’ - and close to Belmore), close enough to public transport, plenty of space etc. If we move from Homebush I’d back this over Liverpool. Sounds like renovations to Stadium Australia could be back on the cards though…

It needs to be a "Bulldogs" stadium, Liverpool would secure our future and identity as a powerhouse Australian team and is part of the South West Sydney that makes the Bulldogs. I'm hoping Bulldogs earn the matchday revenue, etc similar to the premier league clubs that own or operate their own stadiums, big business, like Old Trafford , Anfield , and Bolton Stadium.
They hire out their stadiums for other sports finals and concerts, etc. Having a stadium (or being the operator) is big business. The state and council governments benefit as it boosts economy in their area.

The travel is so convenient from all the government infrastructure investment in the area.

Importantly though there has to be a way Liverpool is secured as Bulldogs territory where a large Bulldogs fanbase has always been, would be good to help us be the first club to hit 100,000 members LOOK at the AFL clubs membership! Somehow Wests Tigers over the years are encroaching due to them being given Campbelltown and outsiders aren't realising the Liverpool/Canterbury-Bankstown link. Would love to keep playing 1 game at Belmore, 1 at a large country town to support our country folk, and the rest at a stadium equivalent to Bankwest CBA stadium, A steep under cover angle keeping the attendance close to action 30 - 35,000, with foundations capable of expansion to a capacity of 50,000 if needed, or inbetween , see St James Park. I went to the Socceroos game last week and would go to every game just because the stadium itself is perfectly balanced, comfortable, hands down one of the best I've been to. And that was a 0-0 draw, pouring rain outside, low attendance, loud crowd due to the stadium design, and great viewing angle despite seats being like bronze spec, but because the angle is so good we felt like we had the perfect seats.

Loved the Oasis project as a kid and would make more sense now, Bulldogs management keep it quick and simple and make a formal plan. Canterbury Leagues Club, Bankstown Sports, Liverpool Catholic Club, these 3 are some of the biggest in Sydney and I'd assume Australia. Clubs (not sure about LCC if it's treated the same but I assume it is) every year I think they're obligated to give back to the community/reinvest that money, we're talking about hundreds of millions in profit they make, yearly. External funding too to help the project get done asap, NSW government grant, Liverpool Council grant since they'd want the economy boost it'll bring, it's a win for all.
Do it now!

A multi purpose stadium and/ precinct - include netball facilities, a huge sport in terms of number - with the club owning land, the NRL wanting to own its own stadium and the need to upgrade what is currently at Liverpool, seems like an opportunity for some clever and influential people

Yeah netball is massive and NRL needs to keep females in the game; go to Melbourne and u see tonnes of females supporting their afl teams (I think touch footy and oztag have helped rugby league but that's another topic) , maybe partner up with a soccer club too.
I'm totally against sharing with another NRL team, it needs to be Liverpool and it needs to a Bulldogs stadium. It can be done.
