Because clubs like City, Chelsea don't give a shit with them currently on-top of the pyramid and taking the piss out of FFP. UEFA are going to have to give the clubs more money and stop pocketing it all. It's all over. Multiple teams pulled out of the Super LEague thing. Good for them.
Shame Liverpool haven't done it yet ...
Would like to think things will change with UEFA but ... nup. It won't.Because clubs like City, Chelsea don't give a shit with them currently on-top of the pyramid and taking the piss out of FFP. UEFA are going to have to give the clubs more money and stop pocketing it all.
To be fair the FFP rules and UEFA are a joke though. Established giants like Barcelona, Real, Bayern and Juventus etc can buy or do what they want, but the FFP rules only apply to clubs like City, PSG, Monaco and Chelsea etc that are trying to buy their way into the elite.. And at least City invest a tonne in young talent and their academy..Because clubs like City, Chelsea don't give a shit with them currently on-top of the pyramid and taking the piss out of FFP. UEFA "found" extra money to give the clubs and created a 36 team CL with VIP spots...So all of the EPL clubs pulled out of the Super League today.. That didn't last long! Was it because of all the pressure from fans, governments, governing bodies or because UEFA reached a compromise or both?
If not, UEFA will have even more power now that they know for sure the big clubs are trapped in the UCL structure. Talk about a failed coup!
So does this mean that Greek, Turkish, Belgian, Romanian, Swiss etc clubs now will find it impossible to make the CL and it will just be the big clubs from the top 5 leagues?UEFA "found" extra money to give the clubs and created a 36 team CL with VIP spots...
This is explains it better than I would lolSo does this mean that Greek, Turkish, Belgian, Romanian, Swiss etc clubs now will find it impossible to make the CL and it will just be the big clubs from the top 5 leagues?
Thanks.. So it seems like the smaller clubs still get their spots, but to make it to the quarter finals will be harder as the groups will be bigger..This is explains it better than I would lol

the last legitimate European Champions League season was in 1997 where you only qualified for the league by winning your own domestic league first or were the current champions... in 1998, the European Champions League was expanded and is for all intents and purposes a European Super League ever sinceThanks.. Yeah that was when it was the Champions Cup wasn't it? I agree, it was a more genuine competition then but like you said, there was too much money for it to not eventually turn out like it did. It's a shame that the bigger clubs dominate it so much but you still get upsets in the group stages and even finals and it was great to see Porto and Ajax win it in recent years..the last legitimate European Champions League season was in 1997 where you only qualified for the league by winning your own domestic league first or were the current champions... in 1998, the European Champions League was expanded and is for all intents and purposes a European Super League ever since
in the 15 seasons prior to the expansion, the champion clubs were Hamburg (Germany), Liverpool (England), Juventus (Italy), Steaua (Romania), Porto (Portugal), PSV (Holland), AC Milan back to back (Italy), Red Star (Yugoslavia), Barcelona (Spain), Marseilles (France), AC Milan, Ajax (Holland), Juventus and Borussia Dortmund (Germany)
in the 23 seasons since, Real Madrid (Spain) has won 7 titles, Barcelona 4, Bayern Munich (Germany) 3, Liverpool 2, AC Milan 2, Manchester United (England) 2, Chelsea (England) 1, Porto 1, and Inter (Italy) 1... besides the concentration of titles in a small bunch of clubs from the top 3-4 leagues, only really the last two winners I mentioned (Porto & Inter) were true upsets
I know it is money and it was always going to happen, but the beautiful game became less beautiful with such blatant profiteering
