NRL announces rule changes to make game more entertaining

The NRL has announced rule changes for the 2021 Telstra Premiership season.

Mostly a bit of fiddling around the edges. The 40+ metre field goal being worth 2 points could be interesting. Do we have any sharpshooters?

The drop goal thing isn't going to make the game more exciting. Teams will just be launching dumb drop goals if they're 40+ out

When will the NRL learn that for every rule they bring, 3 further rules have to come in to fix it?

The dropgoal for 2 points is stupid. You'll just see teams going for field goals rather than actually using the ball and scoring with talent.

NRL should be finding ways for teams to kick the ball less.

Also that inclusive rule for bunker just sounds like trouble.

Teams will be too scared of giving away 7 tackles to be doing it too often. I can’t see it changing things too much.

Only one I like is players having to go off for 2 mins if they stop play for an injury.

18th man should be allowed to take the field if a player is left concussed resulting from a dangerous tackle...

Teams will be too scared of giving away 7 tackles to be doing it too often. I can’t see it changing things too much.

Yeah, its going to be more for the last ditch effort to square up the scores in the final minutes when the difference is 2 points. It means if a team is leading by two points and don't have the ball they are going to have to be alert for an attempt from 40+ metres out, which potentially opens up the defense a bit more.

and of course damien cook and luke keary would be in favour of speeding things up. The 10m 6 again could get dangerous if they enforce a 10m rule..

I like the rule changes.
Slight tweaks to speed up the game and let it flow.
Lewis can kick 40m field goals ... wink wink ...

I love the fact that, If a trainer is a attending to an injured player and wants the play stopped, that player is interchanged.
