The family restaurant that walked away from its major sponsorship deal with Canterbury due to the dramas at Belmore has entered into a commercial agreement with Cronulla.

Rashays has signed on as a back-of-jersey sponsor for the Sharks for their finals campaign, with a view to extending the relationship into next year and beyond. The deal will provide the Shire outfit with a timely six-figure boost, even if their premiership campaign ends with a loss to Canberra on Saturday.
Rashays was set to become the major Bulldogs backer at a time when the club didn’t have a major sponsor. But just as the parties were set to trumpet a $2 million deal, Rashays pulled out due to the bad publicity associated with the Port Macquarie sex scandal.

Rashays had indicated it was prepared to reconsider partnering with the Bulldogs if the ‘family club’ got its affairs in order. However, it opted against it after a diabolical season in which the blue and whites parted company with coach Dean Pay, narrowly avoided the wooden spoon and is currently embroiled in a battle for control of the board.

Instead, Rashays has opted to spend its marketing dollars at Cronulla.

“Our brands align a bit more than where the Bulldogs are at at the moment.”

The Bulldogs have further dramas at sponsorship level. Several smaller backers are threatening to walk away unless there are changes at board level. Members have tabled the 100-plus signatures required to call an extraordinary general meeting with a view to removing chair Lynne Anderson and fellow directors Paul Dunn and John Ballesty.

The boss of Canterbury’s new partner, Arthur Laundy of Laundy Hotels, said he was also prepared to walk away from his sponsorship of the club if any boardroom changes resulted in him having a less hands-on role.

Hmmm sounds like this Laundy deal has completely blown up in the faces of Anderson and Ballesty.

I wouldnt take this personally as a doggies supporter... it makes perfect sense on a business level, as the only sydney region they haven't broken into is the sutherland shire.

What a non-story.
They walked away in March.
And they’re trying to spin it as ‘we may have gone with the Bulldogs had their house been in order’. What crap.
Loves a headline Ykmour.
The Sharts are all yours Rami!

They align with their values of being a small 2nd rate club sponsored by a second rate restaurant chain. We’ll score one of our biggest wins of the year next year against the sharks.
