That huge amount for Virgil has landed the PL and CL titles though, so its money well spent. They spent more to get Maguire and he was so incompetent on and off the field he couldn't out run fat Greek cops let alone his opponents on the field. Spending alot of money signing players does not guarantee you that its a quality signing. Klopp has a good eye for players, those he has brought have turned out good for us ( except Karius) , and those that were there before he came have become better under his coaching ( Henderson).
Ferguson made many signings , and spent big bucks before he got the team he wanted ( after 5 years) .
Klopps made less signings and his success has been quicker.
Klopp didnt make less signings in the first 5 years actually, he had 24 to Sir Alex's 19. Klopp broke multiple transfer records to win the title.

Two managers from different times mate. It's impossible to compare their accomplishments really. Both amazing managers. Fergie's success will NEVER be repeated for a huge number of reasons, one of them being that managers simply don't stay at a club the same amount of time he did. Plus, the level of competition is so much higher in present times. Plus, ... he was so damned fucking good ...

As I said, happy for you to debate. You can talk about "If Fergie had this side" or "If Klopp was coaching in Scotland" as much as you like. Personally I find all that nonsense as we'll never know.

Let's just focus on the fact that United are shit with a fridge for a captain. Sounds fair?
Happy to agree to disagree with this one, like I said before, Klopp is a great manager and im sure he will see more success at LFC in the next year or two.

We will see. With so many EPL clubs ploughing money into their squads to catch up to Liverpool, it's going to be incredibly difficult to continue in the form he had. Personally just don't get why we can't say "Fergie's a great manager. So is Klopp. End of."

Who are these 24 signings you speak off? :tearsofjoy:
which are these “ multiple “ transfer records ? Virgil and Alison?
since then you guys broke our transfer record to NOT win a title recently.
What does it matter if transfer records were broken to sign players ?
The end goal is, invest in quality players to win titles. Our investment / transfers have paid off. Yours haven’t.
Chelsea and Man city have also paid big bucks for players and ended up winning trophies, unfortunately it’s the way modern football is this these days. You have to spend big to compete in the PL.
You guys seem to be struggling the last 7 years going head to head with clubs that actually have financial muscle.
Your cross city rivals have had more success . it’s 7 years and counting.
Klopp made a Europa league final within 18 months of his arrival with the majority of the squad players he inherited.
Hes been fantastic for Liverpool. Ferguson has acknowledged this .

Love it. Love it.

Let's not forget also that these 'record signings' were made possible by selling our biggest asset. Man U have spent and spent without selling.

That’s right, no mention of the 19 players Klopp has sold / released bringing in £300 million pounds. Klopp has sold to bring in better players.
Coutinho paid for Alisson and Virgil

Mate what are you arguing? We were comparing Sir Alex Fergusons success to Klopps, what does that have to do with the current Man Utd?

1. Klopp has brought in 24 players, thats fact, whether they've played for you or not doesnt mean anything.

2. Most expensive keeper of all time, most expensive defender of all time. I brought this up because Liverpool fans act as if Klopp just won the league with the same players he inherited. He didnt win a single trophy with that team, losing a final only makes you the best placed loser.

3. Klopp is a better manager currently than Ole, that was never argued, Man Utd should be challenging for a titles, so I agree that we have struggled at times over the past 6-7 years. Still won a few trophies but not enough.

Anyway enough of this stupid Liverpool talk.

Our first signing is all but confirmed with Donny Van de Beek coming in. Should be announced in the next 24 hours.

Will be interested to see how Ole uses him, VdB was a defensive midfielder coming through but has more prominently featured in a more attacking role since being promoted to Ajax's first team in 2017. He had a short cameo in the Europa league final against us when we beat them that year.

He reminds me of Ander Herrera but more prolific and with better playmaking skills. He completely bossed Real Madrid in the champions league last year and was regarded as the better performer in the UCL in comparison to his former teammate De Jong.

Could definitely see us lining up with a midfield three of Pogba-Bruno-VdB against the bottom half teams in the league. All three players (especially Bruno and Van de Beek) are well regarded for tracking back and putting in a shift at both ends of the field and so we can afford to run out without a specialist defensive midfielder against some teams. Also with more defensively capable fullbacks in comparison to most sides, we can afford to commit a more attack minded midfield.

One of the most impressive changes Ole has made to our recruitment is bringing in players with the right mentality. VdB is a player thats known in Netherlands for having great passion and character every time he takes the field. This continues on the trend as Maguire is known to have a large positive influence within the dressing room and it is said that he isn't afraid to pull up other players if their performance levels have dropped. Bruno was another one that has shown great character on the pitch and is a known leader having captained most of the clubs he has played at.

He's a poor man's Gini Wijnaldum.

As for bringing the players with the right mentality. I agree. Your captain is the perfect example

Again though. It's really difficult arguing about 'most expensive signings of all time' because naturally players now cost a lot more than when Fergie was buying players like Pallister and Roy Keane. However, he did spend big on some players. Records at that time if I'm not mistaken.

Rio. Berbatov. Veron. Rooney. Van Nistelroy. Carrick. Hargreaves. Valencia. Nani. Anderson.

Some great buys there, but some absolute shockers too. There were a few keepers Fergie bought that were rubbish also from memory? Means nothing though as he still won a heap of shit with them!

But ... at the time they were also the most expensive and they helped United become the powerhouses they WERE

Whos arguing?
I am merely stating the facts because some want to diminish Klopps work by suggesting that he should not even be compared to Ferguson.
Well Klopp has achieved far more than what Ferguson did in their first 5 years coaching their teams. The stats and results dont lie.
Anyway, you guys are down and its my duty as a Liverpool supporter to rub it in and wind you up a little.:tonguewink:
Old mate "coach" is good chat value too.
Here's another fun fact. did you know that when Ferguson took over he had the team hovering just above the relegation zone.:tearsofjoy:

VDB is overrated
