I know things could be done better in hindsight..however some things are obvious..somethings need to be done immediately. I’ll be perfectly honest I truly did not think the virus would be so rampant..how wrong was I!
As for problems with this government..I’ll write what I know from experience..I only have to turn to the NDIS and the funds that were taken from the monies allotted to NDIS to keep a budget surplus. I actually had to fight to keep hold of my current provider because they weren’t getting enough money*..who used to be government run.. but has been privatised..don’t get me started on that.. I received no support from the government, and none from the Albanese office..who is my local member..apart from ‘tell us how you go?’..The only office that showed interest was Shorten’s..however that fizzled out. Nonetheless, I fought the good fight and actually won my fight alone..
To be honest there are not many good leaders in the world today..no one to be confident in.. People throw stones and arrows..and some definitely needed..but for all his faults Churchill knew how to galvanise a nation..something Morrison or Trump has no idea how to do..
* I gotta point out that’s a pretty shitty thing to do...greed.but that’s privatisation for you! And it highlights that services like this..personal care..should not be about profit..but care.. They lose sight of that..
ps..when all this is over..it’ll be interesting to start a thread about the good and bad things that were done..who was good..and who wasn’t..
None of them are perfect leaders, although I've never suggested that. However it's party policies (rather than leader policies) I've looked at in the past and there's a clear difference. On one side we've got a science denying religious fruit loops who've firmly got their snouts in the trough and on the other side, while they're not perfect, they've got policies that actually benefit the majority of the people and not the elite few.
If anything this should be a massive eye opener to Australia at how absolutely vital our public healthcare system is. A great comparison of a capitalist healthcare system (the US) versus a socialist system (australia). Protecting Medicare and our public health system should be the objective of every Australian.
A private system will never replace it. The US system relies on insurance and the way you get insurance there is generally your employer provides that insurance. Well what the hell happens to people who've lost their jobs because of the pandemic?????? They're fucked!!!
I've always been life before profits mate. The US has shown with this pandemic example that it is far from ideal, that it's shit. And we should well steer clear of privatizing too many essential services.
As far as the Churchill comparisons go, great war time leader but shit otherwise. And I don't think any of also shorten or morrisson would have been able to unite the nation the way Churchill does but also today's 24x7 news cycle makes it a very different environment.
Meanwhile trump? This dickhead is claiming the media are attacking him because they want him to lose the election. This dickhead is tweeting about how great is ratings are. All this while Americans are scared and their death and infection toll is on a massive rise. There's no defending trump the blokes a fuckwit
