Bro what? You don’t get dispensation for footy injuries at training, that’s not how the rule works. Otherwise you would be able to get dispensation for a 1 week injury.
No one is saying there should be dispensations for one week injuries ffs. 3 months minimum I’d say. The difference between it happening at training or in a game is diddly squat too. Players have to train if they play in the NRL, so it’s the same to me. Injured while working, club and player lose out all the same.

Anyway, apparently it may only be an 8 week injury so hopefully he will play most of the season.

People thought he was going to be the next Graham, turns out he is the forward version of Sam Tomkins

This is so devastating for the club etc but a massive kick to the guts for us fans (not blaming Thompson in any way)but feels like we’ve been waiting six years to be competitive and we start the season with out two (for arguments sake) best middles out. Just farrrrrkkkkkkkkkkkk :rage::rage::rage:[emoji17]
Max King is the best middle.

TPJ is hot and cold, he is the only notable loss at this stage.

Gus just tweeted that Thompson’s recovery will be *6 months*…. Not the 6-8 weeks reported via Twitter today

Luke Thompson is the new Ben Simmons
That's just ridiculous, Thompson's puts everything into training and his heart and soul are fully invested into playing. Simmons on the other hand has no heart and he sold his soul for $20m.

I knew Matt Shirvington wouldn't blitz the Olympics like he did the state champs. His massive appendage just wouldn't allow it
Massive appendage ?

I’m confused …

Fatty on the footy show said that was just where he carried his lunch box .. ‍♂

Fark a lisfranc injury, being a tear and/or fracture to the ligaments and/or bones in the midfoot area and it's a most difficult injury to rehab from due to the low blood circulation . Whilst they can play some players take over a year to fully recover their previous levels of stability and power in the foot. Recent lisfrancs include Albert Kelley Donkeys (5 months), Billy Smith Chooks (season ending), Joshua Cook Manly (season ending), Okunbor (8 weeks) and JMK (8 weeks).

Now we know why Knockonbur couldn't catch a ball....8 weeks wasn't long enough....should have been 8yrs.

Well that's likely Luke Thompson's last ever involvement as a bulldogs player. Sad that his time at the club ended like this, such a missed opportunity.

Two of the Bulldogs’ most feared hard men were unintentionally responsible for Luke Thompson’s season-ending injury. See the $10 million worth of talent sitting on the sidelines.

It’s now emerged friendly fire involving two of the Bulldogs’ most feared and toughest legends Mark O’Meley and Willie Mason was responsible for Luke Thompson’s likely season-ending injury.

The two former premiership winning enforcers were on the field at training on Tuesday holding bump pads when the Englishman ran at them before falling to the turf like a sack of potatoes.

Witnesses say there was nothing malicious or intentional about the incident whatsoever, with O’Meley and Mason simply standing their ground as Thompson collided with the pads while taking a hit up off the dummy half.

But as soon as the star forward, who is in a reported $800,000 for this season, went down it was obvious the injury was serious.
Thompson was helped from the field by Mason and physio James Wall.

The Bulldogs have since confirmed that Thompson will meet with surgeons this week to work out the best plan of action to deal with the rare lisfranc foot injury.

The expectation is he will miss the entire season.

Bulldogs general manager of football Phil Gould tweeted: “Unfortunately Luke Thompson’s injury is quite serious. Prognosis is for minimum 6 months recovery. Possibly longer depending on surgery type. Very sad for Luke and the club.”
It is not expected the Bulldogs will receive salary cap relief for the accident given Thompson is off contract at the end of the season.
It’s a major setback for new coach Cameron Ciraldo ahead of his official NRL head-coaching debut when Canterbury plays Manly at 4 Pines Park on Saturday.

The irony is O’Meley and Mason were brought back to the club by Gould specifically to give the new generation an up close and personal view of what good old fashioned toughness used to look like at the Bulldogs.

WTF??? There is no story, Thompson ran into 2 guys holding a pad and somehow f***ed his ankle in the process. OMG!!!
