What do they do all week at training?

I remember a few years ago now when Des was in his final year at Manly (the year they won it), i went down to get my car washed at a Brookvale car wash (i live on the Northern Beaches).

It was a Thursday around 5pm. This car wash is near Brookvale oval. My car was in the que and they said it would take around 45 minutes.

So i decided to go for a walk and went past Brookvale oval and i could hear noises inside. So i went in.

On one side it was the NYC team training and on the other side of the park it was the first grade team. I went up to that end of the park.

The team was training, rehearsing there attacking moves inside the opposite 20.

Des was there barking instructions in fine detail, where the players should be, when they should pass, what lines to run etc etc.

They kept on doing this, repeating it. If something went slightly wrong by the smallest of margins, they would have to repeat it until they got it perfect. They were all there, DCE, Foran, Stewart, Matai etc etc.

He was being that specific to the centimeter. After seeing that you easily see why he is a premiership coach and why that Manly team was so potent and won the premiership. It was like military like precision training, the ball movement, drawing players, passing etc etc.

So what do they do at training this current mob? Doesnt he go through the same process? I assume he would so why do they get it so wrong? Not once not twice but time and time again?

The question then is, after seeing this, what on earth do they do at training?

How can from what i saw a coach that was so meticulous, actually anal to the centimeter not identify what is going wrong and fix it?

I really dont get it.

I wonder the same thing. We might not have the halves to get us into position for set plays but we would find ourselves in those positions by fluke. What I find more baffling is when, occasionally, we execute a set play then NEVER see it again.

I mean, when i got back in the car, i couldnt help but think, if i was a player, especially a half, i would know exactly what to do, where to go and what to look for...Thats what was being trained that night...So how could our halves be so friggin clueless?

i mentioned it yesterday, brenko lee's dad said this to me with authority that brenko loves des as if he has already asked this question to his son or his son has told him number of times how much he loves des.

now think about it, how many months has brenko been with Des, may be less than 7 months and he is already fond of Des's ways. This is the guy who cried when he told Sticky that he will be leaving the Raiders.

So what has Des done in 7 months that make him love Des so much.

Is Des a fucken hypnotist or some shit who controls people minds?

OR players are too comfortable with how things happen with Des and they know they wont be dropped due to poor form or shown the door and on top they enjoy above market wages what they may not get anywhere else.

I first asked that question about 2 years ago, what do we do at training? I don't live down south so have never been to see myself. One thing I do know is footy and no matter what anyone says I will never believe that we train well. Our side over the past 3 years has consistently failed in any form of polished playing that supports a "trained" team. We cannot pass let alone spiral pass, we can't kick in general play, we can't do set moves...infact do we have any? And we can't goalkick. So yes the question is.....what DO we do at training all week? I fear the answer is sit on social media taking pics of themselves and generally living like fat pigs taking their lives and status for granted? I wonder if the aging roster we have has made the entire team want to sit back and cruise out the easy life. Any lack of proper explanation leaves the above as an answer.

The club has given Hasler too much of what he wants. The endless equipment, video, gps, cameras etc etc. Sometimes keeping things simple is better, maybe that's the way it was at Manly.

All I know is 6 years is enough and whatever he's doing isn't working, it's time for change.
