THE Wests Tigers are considering making a play for Canterbury forward Pat O’Hanlon for 2016.
O’Hanlon returned last month from a career-threatening broken leg and has been in good form in the NSW Cup for the Bulldogs, who are through to the preliminary finals.
A talented ball-runner and noted defender, O’Hanlon was in great form before badly breaking his leg and ankle in week one of the finals last year.
NRL 2nd Elimination Final - Melbourne v Canterbury
The 24-year-old, who had made 32 NRL appearances up to then, relied on a machine designed by US space agency NASA in a bid to save his career and return to the field.
O’Hanlon would be handy pickup for the Tigers have bid farewell to Leeds-bound prop Keith Galloway, while Matthew Lodge’s future is up in the air after repeated off-field incidents.
Explosive lock Martin Taupau is rumoured to be unhappy at the joint venture and has been linked to an exit from Concord.
So far, the club’s only forward signing for next season has been Michael Chee Kam from Manly, while the likes of Jack Buchanan, Dene Halatau, Brenden Santi and Ava Seumanufagai all remain off-contract.
