Cameron Smith and James Maloney have called out the NRL's CEO for not attending pay negotiations with the players' union.

Cameron Smith and James Maloney have cast aside interstate rivalries to put the heat on NRL CEO Todd Greenberg for shirking vital pay negotiations.

Tensions between the governing body and the Rugby League Players Association are once again high after a meeting between the two at Rugby League Central on Tuesday ended in a stalemate.

The meeting, in which the players reiterated their desire for a share of the game's revenue as part of the collective bargaining agreement, was initially reported to have ended with the RLPA's representatives walking out.

But an RLPA spokesman denied those claims, saying the agenda for the meeting had been completed and that it had just finished earlier than expected.

Fourteen players including Canterbury's Moses Mbye and Cronulla's James Segeyaro attended the sit down with NRL chief operating officer Nick Weeks, however Greenberg was absent.

It is understood that Smith, who is the RLPA president, has not attended any meetings either.

The players' union on Tuesday engaged in a public relations push, with Queensland skipper Smith and the entire NSW squad wearing RLPA hats during their media days in team camp.

Talks came to a halt when the NRL refused the union's push for a revenue sharing model, similar to the $1.84 billion, six-year deal which the AFL recently agreed to which ties wages to competition revenue.

"The AFL have been schooling the NRL on how to run a game recently," Maloney said.

Maloney slammed Greenberg saying: "You're running the game and calling the shots, you'd think you'd be required in there."

"I think it's another show of disrespect to the players. Basically as a player, it tells you it's not an important enough issue for him to take his time to be there."

Smith has backed away from strike action talk over the players' union's pay demands, saying the RLPA has been heartened by the AFL's recent deal.

"The cricket has (threatened strikes) but the thing that still buoys us is that the AFL got a significant deal done only a week-and-a-half ago," Smith said.

"It's a closer fit, similar game, similar numbers in the competition.

"I was extremely happy to see that the AFL players and the AFL got the deal done."

Greenberg said he would attend meetings with RLPA when they reach a critical stage.

"These negotiations will take several months so it makes sense for them to be led by Nick Weeks," Greenberg said.

"Nick has already put a revised offer on the table which will see players get a 48 per cent rise in payments over the next five years."

How the f.uck is Smithe the President? Doesn't he have commitments with the Melbourne Storm, Queensland and Australia as well as a family back home? He's also being paid more than enough FFS.

Moses mate, stop attending regarding your pay and start practising your kicking.
It's like walking into a shop where you just stole a camera and complaining about the instructions being hard to read. Just be thankful that you are overpaid moses

What the fuck is Moses Mythbye doing there?

This **** is being paid $700000 more than he's worth ($50k is his worth and that's being generous), he should be sitting in a corner sucking his thumb and let the big boys sort it out.
