Again, what was the issue now though? He had it operated on last year but felt saw after a game, guessing specialists didn't like what they saw.

Melbourne Storm fullback Billy Slater will be sidelined for up to eight months with the same shoulder injury that ended his 2015 season.

Storm Football Director Frank Ponissi said, "While we are hugely disappointed to hear the extent of Billy's injury, we are very pleased to hear the medical team expect him to make a full and successful recovery."

Slater will have some time away from the Club before commencing his rehabilitation program to return to the field as soon as possible.

He'll try again next year, but he'll most certainly retire if he gets injured again.

He is 33 this year. If he is hungry to try and get back in the field for next year that's pretty admirable

Did they not think that the problem was fixed last time? The guy will turn 33 in June and has done everything in league; two operations on the same shoulder in 12 months, why not give it away? May well come back but would he be the same?

Yeah I'm really going to miss plays like this so is Kemmer!!!

I think we all have our Bulldogs glasses on here as this type of play is just not in his game - How is he supposed to defend himself? Haha best line I have ever heard in the NRL..

Surely they will tape Billy boy back up for a miracle return just in time to play Origin and then be ruled out again after Origin for the season?? Of course if they make it to the GF he will be able to make a earlier than expected comeback just in time to play. Billy Boy will not be happy if he misses out on his $90,000 to play Origin. I reckon they will name him on the bench for Origin just so he can lock up his yearly $90,000 bonus even if he was never going to play just as a way to say thank you for all those years of service.

Depends on what's written in his contract.

Some contracts state they have to play a certain amount of games a season.

Storm will get some dispensation in their salary cap.

Stay gone billy nobody needs u to come back. Qld have fullbacks coming out of their ears, and storm have a decent replacement for you already. You are redundant now and a huge injury risk. Not worth the gamble. Time to go start up that karate school u always wanted.

As much as i dislike him, the NRL is more entertaining when he plays. Id rather see him play FB than someone like Jalen Feeney or Kurt Mann.
