Cronulla Sharks five-eighth Braydon Trindall has been charged with mid-range drink-driving while holding a suspended licence, and is awaiting further test results on an alleged potential positive cocaine reading.
Trindall was tested on Monday morning, just hours after his team’s victory over the North Queensland Cowboys at PointsBet Stadium on Sunday evening, and was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

He is currently prohibited from driving having recently had his licence suspended for other offences.
It’s also alleged the roadside drug test also showed cocaine was in his system, however Trindall is awaiting the results from an oral fluid test for a more accurate result.

The Sharks have notified the NRL Integrity Unit it’s been alleged that Trindall blew a mid-range alcohol reading after he was stopped for a roadside test on Monday morning. The Herald has contacted the Sharks, NRL and police for comment.
In 2020 former Wests Tigers five-eighth Josh Reynolds returned a false positive after a roadside drugs test showed he had cocaine and methamphetamine in his system.

The results later cleared Reynolds of the substances in his system with police confirming the initial result was a false positive.
Under World Anti Doping Agency rules, cocaine is considered a performance-enhancing drug but only between midnight and midnight on the day of a competition event, and only if tested by Sports Integrity Australia.

Trindall made his NRL debut for the Sharks in 2020 and has played 57 games in the top grade since.
He was this year handed the No.6 jersey in a full-time capacity after veteran Matt Moylan departed the club for the Super League at the end of last season.

You can’t put brains in statues. With the money these blokes earn you’d think an Uber isn’t a bridge too far.

Surely Braith and Kenty will throw some burley for Buzz on this one and try to get a bite…
buzz only appears on Monday's on nrl 360 so I guess they'll have to do it next week

There you go - I don’t watch it as it’s the New Idea of RL journalism and Buzz’s voice just grates. Will be old news by Monday. Maybe ‘phone a friend’ tonight? :-).

Sad for him, everything is on the up for him this year, first choice half to partner Hynes, has been playing well enough, looking likely to lock in a first grade spot for years to come, and has basically self-sabotaged with this.

It’s not that sad. He made the choice, and he’s put other people at risk for his own selfish decision.

Did Monty Python write the rules for the World Anti-Doping Agency?

Buzz will say it’s a nothing incident being dealt with in-house and no doubt he’ll bring the Prince of Belmore into it saying he did the same thing and got off on a false positive….
