A couple of weeks ago I posted a thread that gave my opinion of what our line-up should look like. I stated that Rhyse Martin needed to start on an edge and move Jacko to lock, and one week later that actually happened and it really improved the team in my opinion.

In that post, I also said that Renouf To'omaga needed to be in the first-grade line-up as he has been our best forward in ISP all season, and arguably the form front rower in the entire NSW Cup. Over the past two weeks, he has dominated both teams we've played, starring against Blacktown and then yesterday bagging two tries in 5 minutes against Wenty.

How we played Clay Priest over a young gun like To'omaga who is the front rower we NEED in first-grade is beyond me. To'omaga is a stronger ball-runner, tough, dominates the ruck, a try-scoring threat and is actually IN FORM. Please give him a crack Pay, he is far superior to Elliott AND Priest, plus he has been in the system since Holden Cup.

Don't forget that our ISP team beat the first-grade Panthers in the trials, and although that isn't a great indicator as it is only trials, we clearly have talent in that side if they are able to even compete with a first-grade Panthers side. Plus with our salary cap situation, we have a lot of untapped potential in ISP especially with To'omaga, Cleeland, Lewis and Brown all of which could make positive contributions to our first-grade side THIS YEAR. It's frustrating because around the league we saw Wayne Bennett give an 18-year-old in Payne Haas his debut this year, yet we've got blokes in their 20s who have dominated ISP and still haven't even had a chance.

Again, I'm not claiming that we have the next Andrew Fifita playing ISP for us, and I understand that Haas may be a more transcendent talent, but who's to say that To'omaga doesn't perform as well as Faitala-Mariner has. They both have a similar background coming from NZ, both have that sort of hard-running style that Kiwis are typically known for, and both are under the age of 25 (RFM is 24, To'omaga is 22). Give the kid a crack Dean Pay, he's in better form than Elliott and Priest.

Lost me at Cleeland... Apart from that I agree. Cleeland is older than Clay Priest and still yet to debut.

Priest posted massive numbers in his first NSW Cup game (145m in 30 minutes with 0 errors or penalties), compared to To'omaga in the same game who was 185m from 50 minutes.

That said we need to work out our side and fast...

I'd be going with:
1. Mbye
2. BMoz
3. JMoz
4. Olive or Holland
5. Hoppa or Holland
6. Frawley
7. Foran
8. Woods
9. JMK
10. To'omaga
11. Martin
12. RFM
13. Jackson

14. Klemmer
15. Brown
16. Lewis
17. Fualalo

Need to establish if Lewis is an option moving forwards, as he remains un-signed as well. Sure that leaves us a little thin on the bench, but Nu Brown should be able to slide in at lock/Second row.

Problem is Frawley won't lose his spot too early (even though I believe Lewis / Brown are worth a crack).
Frawley lost his spot once, do you think he will stay put now? Pay may as well keep trying diff things now our season is almost gone, at least it will be exciting watching new guys run around an show what they got.

If our website is accurate we can basically only pick from these players for the NRL, although there are 31 listed and the limit for the roster is 30 we have until 30 June to make the adjustment and drop a player off. Have 3 to 6 development players to draw from but can only use them if we do not have a fit player for a specific position and only with the approval of the NRL. Won't be able to blood any of the younger guys because of the 30 man roster.

It would not surprise me if he makes his debut against the Eels. He certainly will get a chance this year. Great to see some young talent coming through in such a terrible year for first grade

Anyone know who our top 30 are. Because even if we had a gun player coming through who isnt in the 30 he wont be eligible to play if any player in the 30 are fit.

Obviously pay loves Holland so I thought he's better off starting and use Brown off the bench for jmk or other use if necessary (utility)
Hoppa's best was on the wing let's see how that goes and Holland in the centres that will improve our defence since its been our weakness side.

Elliot I'm no big fan but will likely stay as he is one of pays favourites I would prefer Eastwood or A.Fine over him

Big fan of To'omaga no doubt deserves to be in the team over priest.

Happy to have klemmer off the bench Fualolo done a good job starting. To'omaga in for woodsy and klemmer in Fualalo interchange during the game.

I think we will lose him to another club if he isn' given a go at 1st grade and we can' afford that.drop Holland and put renouf in.
Probably end up at roosters or penrith

Why did have I lost you at Cleeland? He hasn't been in great form this year, but he was the best 5/8 in NSW Cup last season winning the award "5/8 of the Year". Considering how terrible our halves situation is in the first-grade squad, it baffles me that he hasn't even had a look-in. I think the best thing about To'omaga has been the eye-test. We can talk about stats all day long but that's where our mate Woodsy specialises, Woods makes a lot of meters every week and gets a couple of offloads, yet by watching the game we can see how ineffective he is. To'omaga is the opposite, he looks dangerous when he gets the ball, wins the ruck and actually threatens to get over the line when running in the opposing red zone. He plays with a purpose, plus he has the hunger to prove himself.

Mate in all honesty, with teams like the Roosters sniffing around for young prop forwards it wouldn't surprise me. We so desperately need to hold on to your young talent especially with our salary cap situation. I'd rather lose Holland than Renouf.

I dont expect any changes to last week. Maybe lichaa on the bench is all as jmk cant play 9 for 80 minutes yet. The team played well vs Brisbane and imo only lost coz of Sutton

The season he won 5/8 of the year, have a look who was alongside him in the halves at Newtown .... Nu Brown.

He admitted himself the other week that his form is down and not to par with first grade standard.

He'll be 27 in July and still yet to play in first grade.

If he was that good Manly would have sniffed him out and made him an offer to get over there by June 30th... or offered a Hastings player swap.

The fact is, he's a fringe first grader, and with clubs full of talented halves, I don't think he will debut.

Best bet would be heading to ESL.
