This weekend is round 8 of the QLD Cup up here in Brisbane which is considered the next step down from NRL. To my suprise as I only just found out 5 mins ago I am up running lines in the lower grades of the QLD cup this weekend.
Running lines in these grades is all part of the learning curve for a referee and to my suprise I found my name (David Newman) on the QRL website here...

I've also been told i may have to look at moving back to Sydney in the next couple of years if I progress higher up in the grades here in Brisbane. Anyone who has ever considered becoming a referee I strongly suggest you get cracking now. the rewards are many and it's a wonderful career move.
