Premiership or bust.
That's the all-or-nothing ultimatum Canterbury icon Terry Lamb has put on this year's Bulldogs side, who are still without a NRL trophy under premiership-winning coach Des Hasler's tenure.
Since Hasler moved to Belmore in 2012, the Bulldogs have never failed to reach the finals, twice progressing to the decider only to fall at the last hurdle.

Lamb said the club needed to win at least one premiership before Hasler's contract expired at the end of 2017.
"Dessie's got a couple more years to go - we need to win the comp," Lamb told AAP.
"We've been in the semis for the last four years and come up with nothing. We need to do something, not just get caught at second, third or that kind of stuff."
The Bulldogs have been one of the more settled rosters over the summer, but have lost key playmaker Trent Hodkinson and gained NSW State of Origin representative Will Hopoate.
Hopoate reunites with Hasler, who won a premiership with the former Eel at Manly in 2011.
Lamb, who played 262 games for the Bulldogs between 1984-96, said the absence of Hodkinson's calming influence would be greatly felt but was excited at the prospect of watching the more dynamic Moses Mbye.
"We're going to miss Hokko. I watched Hokko play from 12 years old - he played with my son - so I used to see him come through the ranks, and I liked him. He's very calm," he said.
"But I like Moses too, because he's got a little bit more spark, more pace, left foot kicker. I hope him and Josh (Reynolds) work well together. That's what we need."
Lamb challenged Reynolds, who twice missed games due to suspension last year, to shelve his kamikaze-style in order to take on the leadership hole left by Hodkinson.
With little halves depth behind them, keeping both Reynolds and Mbye healthy will be paramount.
"We know Josh is out there, he goes 100 miles an hour," he said.
"But now, whoever's going to control the game, Josh needs to settle down and be steady, talk to the players, although Moses can help him. I know he can because he's been there quite a few years."
The Bulldogs open their season against Manly on March 4.

Des won't get a contract renewal if he doesn't win a premiership by 2017?

Personally I think it has come to that, des has been here long enough now to mould the team to how he wants it and has some of (if not the best) facilities in the game. There really are no excuses.

If we don't extend hasler contract than we are taking a backwards step unless we replace him with Bellamy

Yet who do we replace him with?

For as much as Hasler is shit on in this place, just about every other option is a downgrade.

all is not great for Des behind the scenes......I posted a while back that there is some not happy with his complete and unquestioned power & some odd retaining & recruiting over the years, he has world class facilities that many other coaches would kill for plus he has all the tech he asks for

personally I think if we are struggling mid season Des may even be gone at seasons end

That is a good question, look i'm not anti des. I do remember the days under moore and not even making the 8. Des at least has not failed once to get us to the 8 but we haven't gone that extra step yet and we are still struggling to find a FB and halves. Des is in charge of recruitment so this does fall on him.

As for a replacement, who knows? Did anyone here seriously think green would do it with the cowboys?

We are just missing that star halfback or fullback

if Moses can fulfill his potential than game over we gonna get a premiership

Cowboys never won a comp untill JT got consistent support from Morgan and Coote, could even throw in Granville. Way to much expectation on Moses atm, he isn't going to lead us to shit unless we get a fb that can support the halves and Reynolds steps up and actually acts like an experienced play maker for once in his life.

I'd make a play at Bellamy especially with Cronk on the way out of Melb
Maybe even let jim dymock have free reign
i also don't mind Steve McNamara the roosters ass coach and former England coach

Yeah and des did get that 2011 lineup (with the addition of graham and inu later in the season) from outside the 8 to minor premiers and to a GF. I think he will be fine to see out his contract, just not sure what will happen after that.

Anyone that has seen Loko plays knows he would never have made it as a fb, thats what made the call so ridiculous.
