North Queensland rule out Willie Tonga for a month due to knee injury

North Queensland have suffered a blow ahead of Saturday's NRL match against Wests Tigers with centre Willie Tonga ruled out for up to a month after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery.
Tonga was named in the starting side for the Dairy Farmers Stadium match but underwent a cleanout of his troublesome knee on Wednesday after the club learned he would miss up to four weeks with a groin injury.
Cowboys coach Neil Henry decided it was best to get the joint operated on immediately with Tonga facing a sideline stint after he sustained a groin tear in the club's opening round, one-point loss to Brisbane.
"Willie Tonga is definitely not playing he has had an arthroscope on his knee in bit of a clean out from a previous operation which was something that had been annoying him," Henry said on Friday.
"We were able to do it because he had a reasonably substantial tear in his groin from last week's game so that was going to keep him out for three to four weeks so we got the knee cleaned out at the same time.
"He could of played on with his knee but the fact he has hurt his groin we might as well clean it out because it was ongoing management."
"He (Tonga) is disappointed and we are too because he was in a bit of form last week he caused a few problems of the Broncos' defensive line and scored that nice try on the left edge."
Tonga's injury forces a reshuffle of the Cowboys' backline with John Williams making his return from shoulder surgery on the wing and Ty Williams moving to centre.
The Cowboys are also sweating on the availability of fellow centre Ash Graham who will be reassessed after Friday's training session.
