Yeah Gus is very literal and regularly finds ways to answer a question ignoring the intent. For example is there a reason why Skelton has not made his debut yet? He will answer 'yes'.

Also if you ask Gus a question, has something specific happened, he will answer no if it hasn't happened or didn't happen exactly the way it was put.

For example.

Did you receive a phone call yesterday from a representative of Manly about Kyles availability?

1) The answer would be no if he made the call.
2) The answer would be no if he got the call the day before or on that day just not yesterday.
3) The answer would be no if Call was from a third party and not a representative of Manly such as a Player Manager.
4) He would also say No if he got a call from Shane Flanagan, and Flanno told him he was not calling as a Manly representative, just a father.

But he would also keep defending that he told the truth even after the fact when conversations have been had. He was literally telling the truth at the time he initially responded. You would have to ask him the question again to get an answer if the circumstances have changed. But he will probably respond to the question being asked again as I have already answered that question. But that does not mean that the answer hasn't changed though.

I am sure playing these games entertains him. But the bottom line is, Gus will want to keep some things secret and we need to accept that. For Example him keeping the discussions with CC secret was a big reason why CC signed on with the Dogs. Would you prefer that he say that we are having discussions, but then CC chose to stay with Panthers and wait for another opportunity?

You nailed it, Gould is very deliberate and specific with his responses to questions. It's not the answer that is the problem it is the question;

Have you ever received a phone call from anyone regarding Kyle's availability for the rest of this season?

Might get a more representative response or get the questioner blocked.

We don't need centres.....especially with Crighton and Xerri coming next year. Big, hard ass middle forwards are what we need.
We wont be getting any forwards from Manly. If we have to swap, Parker might be the best option.
Besides that, Crichton will be the fullback. And Xerri might not cut it after being out for so long.

Flanno has a fall back career. Can't recall if it was a trade or finance, but he did have one.

So, NO, Manly say it is not happening. We are stuck with Flanno who will keep an up-and-comer from getting NSW Cup experience for the rest of 2023.

Can’t see anything happening before round 11 (when players outside top 30 can play without exemption).

With Clarke gone, our hooking depth has sunk .

Brown, Gray, Topine & Reynolds(to an extent). Not great but we have options.

Only Gray an out and out 9 though. It seems the club is either pushing for his conversion to a 9 - or using it as an excuse to piss him off

Heard today they're enquiring about Walker and Roosters may let him walk... weird.

Damn Flanno needs to seriously just go to England for Fox sake!

I could see Gus replying in a hasty and vague fashion ‘I get many phone calls about all sorts of things’ [emoji23][emoji41]

Does anyone know anything about lower grade Manly players?
We may be after someone coming through rather than a top 30.
If it is from the 30 I would much prefer Bullemor type player rather than a overpaid Prima-Donna like Schuster or an over the hill player like Woods
Could it be Sipley....he fluctuates up and down between the two grades. We do need forwards.
