It's a bit hit and miss with the pay gap thing. There's a lot of misinformation on both sides.

Based on research there is a pay gap but that's as a total pay gap. As in, men as a total are earning more money than women as a total but that's primarily because more men than women work. Part of this is because women are less likely to be hired for certain roles and part because women tend to choose to be stay at home parents. There also is a wage gap in certain sectors where men are paid more than their female counterparts but the primary cause of the wage gap in research is because most research focuses on all women (working at non-working) verses all men.

Yeah i know what you mean. Other things like sport and show biz obviously have a huge gap also. Although i suppose that has more to do with who brings in the revenue etc.
