The Knights' five-game winning streak has carried them into the top eight and brought their finals hopes well and truly to life as they head into a must-win match against the Bulldogs.

The Knights came from behind to get the job done against the Dolphins in Perth and while coach Adam O'Brien knows his side wasn't at their best on Saturday, he took heart from their ability to orchestrate a gutsy second-half comeback.

The Knights have now won five of their past six to climb from 14th to eighth on the ladder - their only defeat coming at the hands of defending premiers Penrith in Round 17.

With matches against the Rabbitohs, Sharks and Dragons to come after, it will be vital Newcastle take advantage of their favourites tag and home advantage and get the job done against Cameron Ciraldo's side if they want to be taken seriously as premiership contenders.

Meanwhile, the Bulldogs had a chance to recharge the batteries after their golden point victory in Bundaberg and will fancy their chances of a Round 24 upset with Viliame Kikau looking to make up for lost time in the back end of the season and new halves pairing Toby Sexton and Matt Burton showing promising signs for the future.

After being dominated but the Knights 66-0 just six weeks ago, the Bulldogs will be hoping to restore some pride with a second chance against Newcastle and prove to long-suffering fans that the future is bright in Belmore.

Team News
Knights: Star centre Bradman Best (groin) is in doubt despite finishing the match against the Dolphins, with Enari Tuala the likely replacement after stepping up during the Origin period. Prop Jacob Saifiti (hamstring) is also unlikely after being sidelined during Saturday's match with Jack Hetherington likely to start up front and Dylan Lucas or Jack Johns joining the bench after being named in the reserves last week. Daniel Saifiti (quad) is still likely a week away but will be racing the clock to relieve a likely depleted Knights forward pack.

Bulldogs: Karl Oloapu (neck) is likely to return this week in NSW Cup with Cameron Ciraldo likely to name the same 17 which got the job done against the Dolphins in Bundaberg.

Stat Attack
Bulldogs hooker Reed Mahoney is leading the competition in 40/20s with four for the season so far.
Knights winger Dom Young needs one try to equal the club record for most tries in a season which is held by Timana Tahu and Akuila Uate with 21.
Knights winger Greg Marzhew leads the NRL for tackle breaks with 136 and has scored eight tries in his past eight games.

Their pack is awful imo but their backline is absolutely elite

I refuse to be scared by a spine of Crossland Hastings and Gamble though.

1-12 loss

Crossland has been playing better than Mahoney recently & their pack is not awful, it's actually pretty good.

He’s just a tackle bot but he has filled in well

You think

8. Hetherington
10. Leo Thompson
11. Fitzgibbon
12. Frizell
13. Elliot

Mann, Jones, Croker, Lucas

Is a good pack?

Ponga will obviously be the difference between the teams but I think the Knights bubble will burst very soon and they showed cracks vs a weak Dolphins last weekend

Hethrington isn't their 8, he's a bench player who plays about 30 min a game. The Knights pack smashed the Storm & Raiders pack. Also compared to our pack the Knights pack is amazing.

Doesn't mean Hethrington will start. I think Croker starts ahead of him. Even if Hethrington starts they will probably still outplay our forwards who have been shit all year as a whole.

We're 7/20 for the season, and last time we played Newcastle, they pumped us 0-66. We're in with a chance, but how anyone is confident that we return serve like that last game is hilarious.

Is it 5 winning streak or 5 out of 6.
Just checking the writers stats.
