FFS, seriously, I think everyone, even the negative nellies, can see that signing DWZ was a master stroke in itself, but to secure an instantaneous release and have him playing a week later, was something we definitely needed and to date has been demonstrably well worth it. A real credit to everyone involved, despite what some will claim that it just "fell into our hands". Not quite so immediate, but signing Stimson for next season to replace 2 duds that are off contract was also a scoop for us.
We still have 6 spots to fill with players off contract next year, and we are poised ready to strike when the right player/s become available. Plus there is plenty of behind the scenes activity going on around signing up players for next year, looking not just at those off contract but those were we might be able to secure an early release. Then come November we can start locking in who we want for 2021 with 20+ spots and $8+m to spend. Personally I like the direction we are heading in, I can see progress and hope for the future.
If you are seriously trying to compare Drinkwater with DWZ, you are in dreamland. The last thing we needed was a young, inexperienced and unproven fullback, we already have one of those. Of the 2 DWZ was by far the superior choice for us right now and for next season. Speaking of Meaney many bitch and moan about him being a lightweight and Drinkwater is 6 cm shorter and 3 kgs lighter.
