Can't see why the ability is not there to tweak (manually by NRL) one year to the next.... if there is an alarming unequalness between teams.

Or have the schedule made up with say 3 alternatives in three yearly batches so that anomolies and distinct advantages/disadvantages are evened out over the 3 year program.

The recruitment and retention plan was shrewd and detailed.

Given how difficult the player market has been in recent years they've done a solid job. This isn't like 09 where there was stacks of first grade quality available either.

Even Sutton who has been a dud signing to date. The times I watched him live last season he is a very committed player with his tackling.

They have been able to identify players who want to be here for the right reasons first and foremost. Who are good people off the field and pros on the field. Say what you want about Hutchison, again the times I've seen him live his line speed and commitment cannot be questioned. The effort areas like kick chase is something that the spine players have been leading all season. Mahoney, Hutch, Burto and for the forwards in particular Kikau are the first ones there.

100% , 5 of our next 6 games are winnable as well.. finals footy should be a real thought/possibility!!
Crikey, it would make the finals a little more interesting for a change if we finally made it! It has been a l-o-n-g time.

Updated defence stats of the best 4 current defences. Total points conceded and points per match conceded average.

Panther - 156/15.6ppm
Shark - 158/15.8ppm
Bulldog - 191/17.36ppm
Storm - 205/18.63ppm

Still amazed at the turnaround from what was possibly the worst? defence we’ve ever had last season.
If the Panthers score 6 points in the second half against the Sharks we will have the second best defense.

Second best defence 9th in attack. Day and night from last year. What a few personnel changes can do.

And to be honest we barely recruited superstars. Besides Critta we got more or less journey men. Curran was a no nonsense player, Mann very handy, hutch a true out and out utility, salmon a fringe first grader, taaffe a back up fullback. Xerri hadnt laced up a boot for over 4 years. Nothing that should indicate such a dramatic turn around besides the fact everyone at the club is very professional and have bought in completely. Defence is attitude and we have shown with no disrespect, but a lack of talent, all bar 1 game we have been in it due to heart, spirit, resilience and mateship. Something we haven’t had for almost a decade.

Well done Ciro, well done Gus and well done lads. If the season is a success or not is irrelevant because we are not the easy beats from last year.

Went to the second best defence after Sharks got flogged.
