The first Hawkesbury bridge. The span has been floated on the high tide from its construction site on Dangar Island.

It was fabricated in the UK, shipped to the Union Bridge Company in Brooklyn USA where the holes were drilled for the locking keys, then sent to Australia for assembly.

The Railway station is called Hawkesbury River, but locals called the town Brooklyn, after the bridge company.
