People in this thread are seeing things wrong, Hull FC is clearly an excellent club, run by brilliant minds. They've made some ace signings in the recent past, and by looking at Perham they demonstrate that their masterly signing spree is still ongoing. They are to be applauded and definitely encouraged to continue to look through our ranks for those players that, for some reason, just can't quite make it into the NRL team, or perhaps, have recently been dropped from it, both now and in the future.

Hull FC have held talks with Hayze Perham regarding a move to the club. Hull Live understands the Canterbury Bulldogs player has emerged on UK radars in the past week, and the Black and Whites have expressed an interest in him following the departure of Tex Hoy last week.

Perham, 24, can play in the full-back, centre, and wing positions and is the outside back that Adam Pearson hinted about when talking about recruitment last week. The club, who appointed Richie Myler as their new Director of Rugby this week, are known to be after a half-back and back-rower as a priority, but they are also open to strengthening other areas of the squad.


The New Zealander, who was born in Taupō, fits that bill and could yet be one of, if not the first, signing of the Myler era, who has been busy behind the scenes searching for a new head coach among new players. The club have two quota spots to work with, with Fa'amanu Brown also departing the club last week.

Perham, meanwhile, has 35 NRL appearances to his name. He made his debut in 2019 for the NZ Warriors and has also played for Parramatta Eels before moving to the Bulldogs in 2023, where he played 19 games for the Sydney-based club, predominately in the full-back spot.

He is yet to feature in the NRL this season, but he has been playing for the Bulldogs’ New South Wales Cup side, where he has featured in all six games so far at either wing or centre.

In total, Perham has played a total of 77 NSW Cup games, scoring 27 tries. He also played with Hull FC duo Franklin Pele and Jayden Okunbor at Canterbury last year

He signed the best attack option on the market at the time. He hasn't worked out (Perham), so he (Gould) is getting rid of him. Sometimes people work out (Max King), and sometimes they don't (Perham), so Phil Gould is moving him on.

Buying players is a punt. Look at the Big Bash and how many overseas players turn out to be duds, yet they were great before getting onto Australian soil. It is being over critical blaming someone when the player's potential isn't realised.
