Bring back Folkes to do what? I don't think he wants anything to do with us anymore after the way things ended (ie, getting the wooden spoon and his brother-in-law getting the job over him).I think the only player a part of every title in the 80s barring Mortimer? What a fkn legend. The club bringing back all these former players..where the fucks folkesy? That fat prick dib needs to go get fucked
Just have him around he is a club legend and one club player. I wouldn't assume anything about what he wantsBring back Folkes to do what? I don't think he wants anything to do with us anymore after the way things ended (ie, getting the wooden spoon and his brother-in-law getting the job over him).
Only thing is he would never play for any other club apart for the Bulldogs. He would walk into any current 1st grade side, NSW and AU side.
Great player.
He played for Bankstown Sports. Their home ground which used to be called Mclean reserve was renamed Steve Folkes Reserve a fair while ago. It is next to the velodrome at bass hill.Only thing is he would never play for any other club apart for the Bulldogs.
Didn't he grow up in the Greenacre/Punchbowl area?
He is a Bankstown native.
I know he went to punchbowl boys high because my dad was a friend of his in school. He played for Bankstown Sports. Their home ground which used to be called Mclean reserve was renamed Steve Folkes Reserve a fair while ago. It is next to the velodrome at bass hill.
Billy Johnstone and Steve Reardon were from the same mould. The toughest player P4P to play for us. Tackling machine with a massive heart. Loved him as a player as he never let you down.
Good comparison altho Jackson much better defender, however both no nonsense hard working players would want them beside ya in a war(a) Josh Jackson reminds me of Folkesy a lot ....
(b) Folkesy punched Benny Elias 6 times in the '88 GF brawl and this year marks the 30th anniversary of that joyous occasion.
Reardon wasn't an 80 minute player though and nowhere near as good as Folkes.Billy Johnstone and Steve Reardon were from the same mould.
