Maybe so in the long run that could be the bestway. I'm just advocating for everyone to leave it will Gus and he knows all thats happened and circumstances. Would rather an amicable end than more hassles.
Any player that leaves the dogs now will potentially be tarnished with the same brush - questionable training attitude, an underminer of coaches, leaks to the media etc- will make finding a new club a little more difficult - if you have done nothing to have that rep i would imagine you would be pissed with the players at the centre of all this instability.

Egg meet face. CC’s a dud picking JO over Topine blah blah blah
#fuckingclueless
It just goes to show if you aren’t in the inner sanctum you don’t really know why certain decisions are made. Selecting certain players that compromise training standards doesn’t raise the bar for us moving forward.

It’s been bloody tough for long serving fans but changing the culture in any organisation is one of the hardest things to do. It takes time and there will be casualties along the way.

It was more so a dud coaching decision to pick JO over any of our Cup forwards and many came to that conclusion. That was the take out most concluded when Ciro picked Oki to be a forward when already a failed winger. Topine was a suggestion along with other Cup forwards when Kennellers kept saying we had no alternative to picking Oki.

Anyone on TK ripping into the board, Gus, Coaches and players needs to read the above … 100% the way things are and why most don’t understand a lot of the decisions being made.

Easy ripping in looking from the outside in, but in reality no idea what’s happening from the inside out ..

Unless your @Nasheed @04 Dreaming and a few of the others from the clown crew that is, because they know absolutely everything and they’re always right !

Without knowing what’s happening between those 4 walls, People need to ask themselves why is JO being picked over others. CC constantly talks about it every week. JO is clearly the least talented, but he shows up to training early every day and puts in. He hangs back after hours and does extras. He’s always around the club. He’s not good enough for NRL and he knows that, but how do you think he even got the opportunity to sign with Hull?? Gus looked after him because of the effort he’s been putting in. He deserves it and he will kill it in England.

Who else is available?
Luke Brooks has had shit to work with. He would have been a great buy leading the dogs around the park.

Scraping into the eight with arguably one of the most talented rosters in the NRL? Wow congratulations you’re hardly in a position to be handing out advice in other club forums
I just said that. It’s been a lousy year. Do u see me bragging ?

All very admirable of course but picking good trainer tryhards who are mistake riddled and useless on the field hasnt worked either.

Anyway good luck to him in Hull.

I wonder if the Insane Clown Posse can refrain from a retort to your post.

Rugby league may be a simple game but finding the players able to play at a high, consistent NRL level is not that simple. I had the opportunity to sit at a dinner table with a well credentialed NRL recruiter that has worked for a number of clubs and we talked about what being an NRL level player really means. He also said we should never underestimate the effect of not playing during important development years due to Covid restrictions.

Physically NRL Level players have to be able to;
1. Play at a high level in both attack and defence
2. Play at that high level for long minutes in the game, particularly sustained defence.
3. Take the physical punishment, overcome the fatigue and play game after game, week in week out, for a whole season.

Mentally they have to be able to;
4. Play at a high level in both attack and defence
5. Play at that high level for long minutes in the game, particularly sustained defence.
6. Handle the mental strain and play game after game week in week out, for a whole season.

Plenty of players can handle 2 or 3 of the above, not many can handle 4 or 5 and even fewer can handle all 6.

We see this not only with the mature NRL players but particularly with the younger players. They can handle the NRL level physicality for a few games but then their bodies start to fail and they get injured. Often they back off in training trying to save themselves for games, but that just results in a lower level of fitness. Often they can't handle the mental strain, they hold up for couple of games and then they lose concentration and make errors that they wouldn't normally make.

This is what pathways development is all about, recognising that a young player has the abilities to play NRL but also acknowledge that they can't handle it week after week, physically and/or mentally. Often dropping them back to NSW Cup Level isn't enough, they need to go back to playing in their age group, whilst working not just on their fitness, they often still train a couple of days a week with the NRL team. But also working on their resilience, learning how to recover and prepare mentally and physically to do it all again the next game. NSW Cup has a large proportion of hardened NRL players, quality back ups, senior players and as result some games are pretty physical not much below NRL level

Look around at our young guys, who spent a few games playing NRL, moved down to NSW Cup and then played Jersey Flegg or SG Ball, where they aren't playing against grown men with many years of playing experience. They are learning about themselves physically and mentally, this is all part of a proper pathways development process.
