On Saturday at about 5.25hpm channel 9 Getaway, part of the program is about taking a cultural tour of Singapore.

https://www.9now.com.au/getaway/2023/episode-33 (have to sign up to view, it's free to sign up, I forget if you get adds.)

At the 5.15 mark, it's about Singapore. ends about 10.45.

The presenter is annoying with her facial expressions. lol

In that video it mentioned KEK seafood for the chili crab.

That's were I am going.

They say to book in as it' popular with the locals. ( I wanted to book in at 6.45, but was too slow for that day & booked in at 5pm (old people's dinnertime.)

I booked in using the below link.

Other posters have mentioned Jumbo Seafood.

https://www.jumboseafood.com.sg/en/reservations (East Coast Seafood Centre)

KEK menu.

I won't be ordering the claypot pig liver. lol

If you want to go to the Zoo, you have to book in before you arrive there.

This is the official site

So atm it works out about $55 per adult.

There are 2 prices, residents & Non residents.

Dearer to go at night. I was going at night but thought, I could be tired from all the activities during the day.

Hope this helps a bit.

So you know, you don't need a visa for singapore, unless you stay for 90 days

If you're a passport holder from Australia, New Zealand, Norway, South Korea, Switzerland, the United States, or if you're a European Union citizen, you can stay in Singapore for a maximum of 90 days before having to acquire a visa.

There are some websites that say you do.

I went to Singapore about 8 years ago, stayed @ Marina Bay Sands, the pool is crazy cool, but it wasn't cheap.

We walked through the markets to the Hawker Stalls, a shop owner jumped in front of me and screams, he buddy, your from Sydney, where you live, Parramatta?

im like WTF how did you know im from Sydney?

Food was crazy cheap and amazing too

Back when I travelled there you could cross a border for a day trip and renew the 90 day period for extended stays without a visa. I don't know if that's still possible.

You can get cash directly from most ATMs over there. Not a bad idea to get a lonely planet guide for Singapore either. It'll give you an idea of what will cause offence with local customs etc. for example, the friend I travelled with almost got kicked off a bus for stretching his legs out and having his feet next to the driver. It's offensive in Thailand to even point your feet towards someone. The driver stopped the bus and was yelling at him. Wound up shifting my mate further back on the bus. But a lonely planet guide will help you with the culture. Give you a guide to
- Restaurants
- Other activity ideas. If there's a way to get a look at the otter population in the semi wild (there's a group living somewhere right next to the city) I'd try and see them if I get there again.
- Things to avoid like street food stalls that aren't busy to avoid food poisoning.
- Local ways that criminals will try to relieve you of money in the area.
- Key phrases in the local language. You'll survive with English fine. But things that can be handy to know in local language such as where is a (Toilet, bus stop, taxi rank, doctor), please and thank you etc. they probably won't be necessary, but you never know if you'll need them.
- Other things that might get you in trouble there. I do know they were harsh about littering there when I visited. I know that you can also get HUGE fines for bringing home the pirated DVDs you can buy there.

You might be able to find a copy of the lonely planet at the library to check out. I think it's well worth a look.

Wonder why the same picture of the same guy on all the notes?
The portrait of Singapore's first President, the late Encik Yusof Bin Ishak, was chosen to honour his invaluable contribution towards nation-building.
