The Golden Ball is an award attributed to the most outstanding player of the World Cup final tournament

The winner of the prize, which is given to the most valuable player in the 32-team tournament, will be announced on Monday.

Who do you think deserves it ?

I think Cannavaro's defence for Italy has been heroic so ill go with him, even tho it all goes down to the final show down

yeh but i doubt klose will get it, only because his country didn't make the final

Zidane has been really good

and Buffon has been great in goal as well, conceding 1 goal all tournament, which was an own goal as well

and a keeper has won it before so i wouldnt be suprised if Buffon comes up with it

well never happened before that

the award started in:

1982 - Paolo Rossi (Italy)

1986 - Diego Maradona (Argentina)

1990 - Salvatore Schillaci (Italy)

1994 - Romario (Brazil)

1998 - Ronaldo (Brazil)

2002 - Oliver Kahn (Germany)

and i think Lehman has had a better season that Oliver Kahn that why he got the pick infront of him

yea I thought it would have been rare bout TBH Kahn was in the back of my mind about 2002

has Buffon saved alot of goals, or just wasnt put under alot of pressure, I didnt watch too many Italian games TBH

well he hasnt been under much pressure, but he did save a couple against australia and against germany some decisive ones in extra time that would've probably lost them the game..

Buffon is class, him and cannavaro and materazzi are 3 i look up to in the italian squad

well i think if nesta is fit and they start him, its slack for materazzi, he done really well against germany, was very calm and strong in the back...

Zidane for mine. Going out in this way would be phenomenol for him.

However, as for the goalie discussion, well I think Schwarzer has been better than both Casillas and Buffon
