i probably have a bigger issue with harry grant getting hooker of the yr
Poor year for hookers who else are you giving it to? Thought Grant had a meh year too but he was 20 votes ahead of the next one in the voting. Cook was poor for Souths, typified their season awful post Origin. Egan, okay but he's not Grant even this year. Walters is a decent 9 looking good in a very good side. Korisau had half a year of being abysmal for the Tigers.

Grant is probably deserving but it's one of his poorer seasons.

Not in any other sport would a player get an mvp when they missed half the season
Happened before in other sports, the 6 point rule is going to make it easier, I preferred the 3-2-1 system.

I agree it needs an overhaul and suspensions shouldn't count as those weeks missed lead to no points anyway..

I think it shouldn't be week by week scoring. Just base it on the best players over the course of the season and change it to an MVP like award.

Johnson was by far the best player in the comp this season and got robbed..
100% agreed

No doubt..

Webster gets coach of the year but everybody knew it was really SJ. Just like Reynolds at the Broncs...

How many clutch moments for the win did Pinga provide?

You look at both their stats throughout the year and SJ is head and shoulders above the rest...

Hopefully the system gets an overhaul, then again its the NRL.... It will probably get worse.
Ponga makes 2 breaks or a 90m try and just because of that moment alone he gets 6 points.

SJ's round 26 game - 1 LBA, 2 TA, 1 OL, 13 runs for 80m, 18 tackles and 0 missed and he only got 2 voters for 3 points.

Problem was in that game for SJ, he had Egan and AFB were the best two on the field by lengths.

Newscorp judges will pick a feel good story over a genuine winner.....

Dally M’s are ridiculous.
on what planet is To’o not the best winger in the game?
Ponga is not the best player in the comp this year. Many things wrong with that result.
You shouldn’t be able to have 10 good games and win the biggest individual award in the game.
it’s an advantage to be a gun player in a shit team. Ponga, Hynes, Drinkwater and Chez all in the top 10.
Johnson polled second by a point but had AFB only 2 spots behind.
The only other team to have 2 in the top 10 was the panthers and they could only muster 13 points less than Johnson.

…Move to MVP voting.
To'o is the best with the team supporting him. If you're after individual talent, JAC is easily a better winger. He can score tries with a crappy team in front of him. Give Fox the same team that To'o has and he'll eclipse him.

Is this the first time in history a player got 6 Dally M points for a single game?

This is the problem. You go game by game and try and break it down to find the best player per game which is where this whole points based scheme (where there is actually not objective framework for what constitutes a vote/points) issue comes from.

Scott Drinkwater wins if he doesnt get suspended. Nicho Hynes had the worst season of his career and he finished 3rd.

It's just stupid.

Walsh wins easily if he didn't get that farcical suspension you mean Drinkwater was okay but he sure as anything was not Reece Walsh.

lol, what a gee up.

what is the reason to make it 6 ? why not 60? or 35 ?
The reasoning at the time was so that more players could get votes...all well ang good but then you have the same blokes just getting more votes

Yeah if you look at the full season, Walsh is definitely up there. Superstar.

He played less than five first grade games last year.
