Former Queensland State of Origin star Carl Webb has been arrested in the state's far north after an alleged late-night rampage in a suburban street.
Webb, 33, was arrested about 4.15am on Saturday after he allegedly spent more than an hour trying to break into homes in a quiet street in the Cairns suburb of Trinity Park.
"He kicked on the front doors, he didn't get inside," a police spokesman said.
The former National Rugby League forward then allegedly damaged a car windscreen.
"He has climbed onto the bonnet of a vehicle, jumping up and down on it and was arrested when police arrived," the spokesman said. "So he has done a bit of damage. He was a bit agitated."
Webb, who played 186 games for the Brisbane Broncos, North Queensland Cowboys and Parramatta Eels during his 11-year career, was known for his aggressive style, particularly in 12 Origin matches for Queensland. He retired in 2011.
Webb has been charged with three counts of attempting to enter a dwelling with intent at night threatening violence and one count of wilful damage.
He is due to appear in Cairns Magistrates Court on March 31.
