It's a good signing, but where would you play him? He does provide excellent cover in the backs/halves. We are finally building adequate depth to have a competitive 17.

Good player Tracey. Could be a good solution for 1 assuming Critta is to play 4. Yes we need middle forwards more but don’t turn down quality if available at the right price. Our lack of depth has hurt us in recent years. It’s the Torygraph though so time will tell.

I love the Crichton signing, but I think we would play him at FB to justify his salary. We know he is a freak of an athlete and his best position is centre, but he was a solid backup at FB when Edwards was out. It could be similar to the Bmoz experiment.

If he fails we have the option to move him back into the centres, it's better value in the salary cap if he works out at fullback

Crichton is on no more than the other elite centres, Farnworth, Manu, Holmes, Best etc they are all on around the same.

That is good to know! I want a decent fullback, and I am hoping this gamble pays off. As @bradyk said, he would be a great option at centre if all things fail.

I wouldn't be upset if he was 1 or 6.

If you watch footy/Shark play I find it hard to believe you don't rate him. I hope you aren't saying that because you've barely seen him play. You won't find a better reserve grade/back-up player (there because of a stacked Shark team) available to sign over the last couple of years. It's hard to go wrong with speed and effort.
What's interesting to me is who are Sharks planning to have a crack at with Moylon gone and potential release of Tracey.

I just don’t think we can move Burton from 6.
So much invested now - either he makes it or he doesn’t - unless Xerri doesn’t and opens a slot in the centres. But I don’t think he’s a centre either - Penrith just played him there. There’s no absolute standout for 1 for mine at the moment. Some say Critta because of his alleged pay packet but he’s a specialist centre. If we’re going to buy Tracey, for mine it would be for 1.

Ah, goes for the intellect jab.
Isn’t that ‘ad hominem’ - the very thing you cried foul over? Oh dear the hypocrisy :tearsofjoy:.

Anyway, always an excuse. I guess you also ‘choose’ not to win Powerball by not buying a ticket because the cliques and factions at The Lott will ensure your ‘effective change’ is impossible. You show ‘em :-).
You insult me all the time. I see no reason to be polite.

I've maintained all along I'm fine with you insulting me, anyway. My issue is you often don't back up your insults with a rational argument to show why I'm supposedly so stupid, which gives the distinct impression you don't have one.

Did I provide a rational argument before I implied you're a bit of a dumbass? Why yes, yes, I did. So no hypocrisy here.

Geez, you should stop. You're just embarrassing yourself, at this point.

Just rough numbers, Crichton is on around $800k, which is "guaranteed elite centre money". If we want a "guaranteed elite fullback" then they start at $1.1m (eg; Tedesco, TTrbojevic) and go to $1.4m (eg; Ponga).
