With Brailey re-signing with the Sharks and Robson signing with the Cowboys are we now in the no-go zone for young players. Considering we were keen on both of them and missed both.

Are we now the bottom rung on the ladder for recruitment. We look like paying overs for anyone in the future. Dean Pay is definitely not the drawcard coach we need.

How do we get out of this mess if we have to pay overs for anyone we target.

This rebuild could take 10 years.

Like I've said before, spend money outside the cap to make our cap more valuable...

Get personalities, corporations (fame, influence and fortune) in and around the club (people that Todd Greenberg would grovel to - Souths have Crow, Roosters have Politis, Melb have the media empire etc)..

You get a bit of that going and you'll soon see favour from the administration.

Besides that you'll get young talent wanting to be around that.

Get a couple of Ozzy moviestars and or international celebrity to become ambassadors or investors in the club... Chris Hemsworth, Hugh Jackman and the Madden brothers (or whomever is currently culturally relevant) should do it.

Then wine and dine some of the Fortune 500 heavyweights and get them interested in the club (even if only by association) and watch the (comparative) little players in Australia flock to "assist" our club in third party deals and the like in hope of snaring a little interest from our connections.

Everyone knows top level rugby league is no longer played on the field....

Give the club a touch of eminence and spend a small fortune on a decent coach, then watch how far our cap stretches.

Players will come once they know about the recruitment plans. Right now we can't really sell the club with our recruitment strategy because of our cap situation but I'm sure they will be lining up come 2021.
It would take some convincing to get young players like Brailey or Robson to spend 2 of their developing years playing for a certain bottom 4 club and risk regressing whilst waiting for the club to sign better players.

Players will arrive in the next couple of years as we rebuild, be nice to get a couple or 1 quality mid season signing, and start winning games, and then it will slowly spark some interest.. it’s always going to be a time thing, but it will and has to happen..!!!

We Can.....here's how

1st - Target a group of 4 to 6 above average players that are all managed by the same person or by 2 sets of managers. This allows you to give the perspective signing inside knowledge that they are not coming alone, they are actually being joined by other quality players. They could have the option to sign on the basis that the others are coming.

2nd - Offer good money, not crazy money but good money.

In 2008 we won the wooden spoon.
At the end of that year, Steve Folkes was moved on and untested Kevin Moore was given the top job.
During the off-season we signed from the Broncos- Ben Hannant, Greg Eastwood, David Stagg & Michael Ennis. We also signed Brett Kimmorley & Josh Morris.
In 2009 I think we finished in the top 4.

I got a sneaky suspicion that we might do something similar again and raid the Broncos off contract players.
This year, Pangai, Ofengaue & Oates are off contract & next year its David Fafita & Katoni Staggs.
Im not saying we will get them all but maybe 3 or 4.

Maybe Corey Oats wanted to come last year but he & the club decided it best to re sign with the Broncos for only one year and then come in 2020 when we can afford him. Just throwing it out there.

We got cap space and we can offer a high liklihood of NRL footy for good young players..

Now its up to Pay and Anderson to build it..

Good observation. Hadn't ever really thought about the manager package deal thing. Suppose that was what was intended with the Moses/Woods/Tedesco thing.

Fuck it'd have been awesome to get Tedesco. Ended up with the shittest of the 3.

Meaney is a classic example of a young player coming here, the players we can attract till our cap situation loosens is gun up and comers not getting picked in the starting lineups looking for an opportunity thats why nick joined us there are some out there such as lomax/staggs,xerri (coach saying he might put him on wing when full strength) welch at storm already saying he may have to move to syd to get a start ,its not as doom and gloom as some of the negative nancies make it here

Then we not getting to top up and comers we are only getting sloppy seconds.

We need a quality hooker, half, centre and prop. Then we’re back in business.

We would struggle to attract a 70 year old Thai Lady boy who works on a rice farm to play for us

There's not enough talent going around in the competition. You need to develop your own talent and then combine with some astute purchases.

We royally messed up Klemmers management. For all the haters he was bred a bulldog and gave us some character and star power. We have some young ones now and they need to step up before our fortune turns.

Otherwise you can try and replicate Knights, pay "overs" for an upcoming star and hope he blossoms. Then someone sign mid tier stars and get "lucky" with someone like Klemmer.

I prefer Manly's rebuild. Paid overs for their own bred half, raising some young guns in the turbo brothers, and then combining with some astute purchases like Taupau and getting some miles out of guys like Thompson, Sironen, Walker (b4 he got banned), Api. There mistake was losing Green.

I can't see us attracting any top line talent for a while (not without paying overs anyway). If you look at who's off contract there's not a great deal of quality there and agree with above post that there's not enough talent in the comp.

We will probably have to try and get more players like Napa (no disrespect to him but he's not a top line talent and he only left because Uncle Nick told him there was no future for him at the Roosters).

Also agree with one of the posts above that we need to have connections to powerful people who can create third party agreements. Look at a loopholes in the cap where you can give 5 x players motor vehicles, there's an advantage that uncle nick had straight away when he owned City Ford group.

And definitely a coach that players inspires/attracts players, that's probably the first step to a genuine rebuild.

And we are sponsored by Kia with the limit being $100k in cars per annum per player. That's a lot of Kias, enough for the whole family.

Of the reasonables, Katoa (hooker) and MWZ (centre) are off contract this year, might help in grabbing DWZ (winger) as he is off contract next year.

Would you want to come play for the dogs?
Hell yeah! I know where you are coming from though. These youngens don't know crap about history. It's sad because history shows there is no better club to play for when we're on. The crowds. The Atmosphere. The vibe. Gee i miss that winning feeling.
