Bose are overrated... they trade on their name these days but are largely rubbish (anyone that has to try and flog their shitty speakers at a shopping mall spells disaster in my opinion.

Paradigm is where it's at if you want to splash some cash (them, Martin Logans or Morel - albeit Morel HT gear is hard to find in Aus).

I've got a set of high end Jamos, driven by an Anthem MRX500.. thing absolutely rips for music and home theatre.

Bose is not rubbish but i do agree they are way over priced.

JBLs are good too.

Bose make decent all in one units packages (spreakers, sub, built-in amp), but much like the normal all in one units, if something fails the whole thing is pretty useless. They also don't release the specs on their equipment so it's hard to re-use their speakers when you don't know the Ohms (most believe they are 3 Ohms but hasn't been confirmed)

You're better off getting an amp and speakers. If you only have $500 you can't get much brand new but second hand you can get some really quality sound for $500.

Sorry but you've lost me there.

In car audio.. JBL stands for "just bloody loud"... these days that market belongs to shit like kicker.

JBL used to be the brand you'd put in your car from Strathfield Car Radios when you wanted all noise and no quality.

Bose are a premium brand.. in large appliance stores. Enormous markup and average quality. No self respecting home theatre specialist business sell them for anything other than the market of "namedroppers".

Both are what id class as "brands of yesteryear". Many moons ago decent, but now trading on a name whilst releasing shitty Chinese built mass produced rubbish. Much like Sansui.

Bose are only good at one thing now... marketing.

There are so many far better brands out there (many cheaper too).

Yep. Definitely. They're basically the same as Sony. An audio engineering friend was telling me about how he goes to night clubs and such and when they say "We want a lot of bass", he just decks them out with rubbish Sony or JBL stuff and amps the levels. If they ask for the better quality stuff he says "You'd be wasting your money. You're not looking for a detailed mid-range, just loud music"

To compensate for something small?
Saw that post at the start and was going to comment the exact same thing but I figured that in 3 pages someone had already said it.

Bro go to this site

rtings.com

It has everything reviews of all TVs and shit.
You want a top tv for $1500 get the Samsung 55" ks8000 but I think they're completely sold out from that discounted price being so crazily good.
The ks8000 is the best you can get pretty much besides the oled lg's

I tend to think that while 60 inch is big, the 65-70 inch is becoming the normal. Spend $1500 extra and buy a bigger tv - and if it's the primary tv (which it most likely is), then go for either a Sony or Samsung (I would go for Samsung). Look for one with a higher refresh rate (200hz ideal). Something that's important... ASK TO LOOK AT THE REMOTE. A lot of people do not do this, but considering that's where 99% of the functionality is, it's important to see if it's easy to use. Samsung tend to be a bit funky and create ones that have no number pad, instead use digital number pad on the screen - don't go for this.

Also, tv brands such as LG, HiSense and Panasonic are not ideal for primary TVs.

Get the biggest Samsung you can afford.
It doesn't matter what size TV you get they all look small in 6 months!
