Hit a hole running off Mann, try. Almost scored a second doing the same if not for the ball being batted down. Scored another @ centre running at space. Burtons thing is attacking space, not creating space.
The first try was Burton engaging the line and making the right pass to Taaffe. His vision created a try putting Kikau into a 1 on 1 with a winger on the short side.

You guys are thick as fuck lmao, we were still getting absolutely pumped with Burton at 5/8 in the 2nd half. Burton didn't move to centre until the final 25 minutes. The fuck do you guys actually watch?
Some people don't let the facts get in the way of a good story.

Wasn't it also Burton that kicked the ball out on the full from the kickoff?

It was basic catch and pass shit. The work for the Kikau line break as smart tbf. Nothing from that game has changed my opinion on him though.

I think Critta. Critta was shocking at fullback, kicked dead on the second or third tackle too lol.

Yeah that play & Hutchison passing it back inside to a prop instead of using the overlap out wide were both terrible plays.

People saying all preseason and this season that our halves should be Hutch and Sexton was hilarious. Hopefully they realise how dumb that was now and give Burton some credit when he deserves it.

Burton needs to do it consistently though to silence the doubters which is something he hasn't done yet.
You have been sitting on that comment for months .... just biding your time .... haha gotta laugh.

I can promise you Hutch and Sexton WAS very much being considered by the coaching staff over the pre season .... Hardly hilarious ...

You see it's the little things like Burtons three momentum swinging errors that matter, but largely go unnoticed by his fans ...

Two terrible first half kicks .... one into the legs of a Rooster's defender when in prime attacking position, and a ridiculous attempt which was charged down .... both shocking plays .... fortunately for us The Roosters spilt the ball on both occasions.

In the second half he was not so lucky when giving away a braindead penalty for being offside at a scrum .... we were all over them at the time and it was a massive momentum swing.... changed the course of the match.

This sort of dumb play is a regular occurrence from Burton ..... it's just not good enough.

Backing up to score three tries was good and credit to him for being in the right position.

But pro footy, unlike junior footy where scoring tries are the be all end all, goes a little deeper in its analysis of a players performance.

Last nights game doesn't change a hell of a lot .....

So Hutch butchering 5 on 1 overlaps multiple times a game and killing all momentum down the right side with selfish runs that lead to nothing is a better option than Burton?

Burton also set up the first try to Taaffe by a double pump and holding up the ball.. He got into dummy half to get the line break assist to Kikau down the short side and then backed up..

It wasn't a perfect game from him and I've been critical of him this season because he's been pretty poor til now. But last night he was really good and our best aside from Kikau, so credit where credit is due. Hutch is horrible and Sexton is average. Burton is more talented and a better player than them. Last night proved that yet again.

Definitely fair to not change your opinion based on one half of footy.
He still has a bunch of areas to work on and find consistency in, but that first half last night displayed there's something worth persisting with IMO.

Some people hate Burton so much and are so salty and bitter towards their own player that they can't even acknowledge that he had a good game...

He had 3 tries, 1 try assist and 2 like break assists, ran for 147 metres and only missed 1 tackle and they're still hating and saying Hutch and Sexton are better options. Crazy..

Burtons on the right trajectory as the star player of the squad he was always going to cop the backlash in defeats. A 5/8 job is to provide for his outside men, name any half in the league and put reserve players outside them they’re likely going to struggle. Glad his back on track end of the day the players besides him have to work synonymously with him.

+ The forced error from the bomb, another perfectly placed drop out for the turnover (he actually might be the best executor of the short drop out in the comp).

This is without talking about the intangibles, I thought he just looked confident and fluid in that first half.

Anyone that thinks Hutch is a better option than Burton has got rocks in their heads. Hutch was the only player to do absolutely nothing and is a huge reason why we couldn’t take advantage of the Roosters being down to 12 men
