Exactly right mate, he was practically carrying the team forward on his back first 10 rounds of 23, a lot on here called we’d break him before it happened … hope he gets a shit load more support this year or they’ll break him again ..

Yeah for sure. Same goes for Xerri. I think he will stick around long term also. Repay the faith!

Getting the job done IS what makes him special.

Packs need balance, and in ours, Max fills the "Mr Consistency" role - that's what he does.

Around him, we need an Alpha (maybe Hughes, in time, maybe someone new), a Cameo/Burst prop to "up the temp" (hopefully Poasa), and a versatile "spell" forward to do a job from the bench (looks like Morrin, for now, but Kautoga looked pretty good too even though he's nominally a 2RF).

I'd say this was one of Gus's easier decisions...
