yeah he needs another 8 years so he can show us what he’s capable of
Nope, he definitely doesn't need any more time under Ciraldo. Feel sorry for all the boys who are stuck here with that dud.

who was the dummy half? could he have been purposely passing away from whatever side RFM was on? (on some sort of power play to make RFM look bad)
Very doubtful, and even if that long shot was true, call for the fkn ball, especially when you are the supposed "club captain".

Canterbury’s relationship with Raymond Faitala-Mariner is at breaking point after the club captain was told to stay away from training when the club returns for pre-season.

The first batch of Bulldogs players are due to convene at their Belmore headquarters on Friday but Faitala-Mariner won’t be among them in a pointer towards his imminent departure.

Sources close to the club confirmed Faitala-Mariner had been told to stay away, having fallen out of favour earlier this season and subsequently given permission to find another club.

The former Bulldogs club captain has two seasons remaining on a lucrative contract that is due to pay him in the vicinity of $400,000 a season.

However, his time at the Bulldogs is fast coming to an end. The 30-year-old made 14 appearances for the club in 2023, having been appointed club skipper before the season began.

It is understood the relationship between Faitala-Mariner and the club became strained after he raised concerns over training on behalf of some of his teammates.

He played his last game for the club in round 21 against Penrith but was unsighted thereafter, The Bulldogs have been on a spending spree of late - they confirmed the signings of veteran Drew Hutchison, utility Kurt Mann, hooker Jake Turpin and forward Poasa Faamausili last week.

That came after they landed New Zealand Warriors forward Josh Curran, who was released from the final year of his deal to join the Bulldogs.

PLAYER MOVES
Arrivals:
Stephen Crichton/Jaeman Salmon (Panthers), Blake Taaffe (Rabbitohs) Bronson Xerri (ban), Josh Curran (Warriors), Drew Hutchison/Jake Turpin (Roosters), Kurt Mann (Knights), Poasa Faamausili (Dolphins)

Departures: Jake Averillo (Dolphins), Paul Alamoti (Panthers), Tevita Pangai Jr (Boxing), Luke Thompson (Super League), Andrew Davey (mid-season Eels), Kyle Flanagan (Dragons), Franklin Pele (Super League), Jayden Okunbor (Super League), Corey Waddell (Manly)

Wow didn’t think the club would do that lol but there ya go
He’s been toxic to the team and he’s the one leaking the stuff to the media
I’m just not sure what next here. He signed a 3 year extension last year. Who is going to take him? Gus has tried so no avail to find him a new club thus far. You can’t have him sit in the stands for 3 years.

Also there will be a huge story on dogs next year once the mental health patient is back playing footy and his issues are resolved. Buzz is going to absolutely give it to the dogs.
Get ready lol

What does it say about the judgement of the coaches and management that they gave him an extension AND made him captain

How do you trust these same people to turn us around?

Once again people will completely miss the point though, instead of asking whether getting rid of RFM is a net benefit to the team (yes it probably), the right question is how did he end up as captain? How did it become so toxic that the fucking captain has been barred from training

It’s the same logic when people say it’s a good thing players like elliot Okunbor are leaving “we are clearing the deadwood” but why do we constantly end up in these situations, what are the root causes?

It's too late to back down now, both sides are in too deep. There are obviously issues but I still don't believe this one sided narrative that has been pushed by the club privately and via the media. This is going to drag on for a while along with a few other issues.

It says that they put faith in a player who has been here since 2016 and they made him captain after coming back from a serious injury but it backfired.
I hope you know not everyone is perfect, and if the club thought at the time to help him out and give him confidence as a leader but he abused it , what do you think the club should do?
