Bulldogs officially grant Faitala-Mariner permission to negotiate with rival clubs
The end of their season may have arrived, but the drama is far from over at the Canterbury Bulldogs.

Irony was that the club didnt like Lane's attitude!!Originally Des traded Shaun Lane with Faitala -Mariner from the new zealand warriors. A strong young defensive player with good post contact meters. I nearly cried when we let go Shaun Lane. Watching him coming up through the grades a wonderful ball runner a great future prospect. After all these years we now are letting Faitala leave.
pretty much I feel he overstepped his mark as a player and captain. Instead of leading the club and it’s culture. Remember we have missed out on finals for 7 years so changing the culture to suit where we want to be has angered a lot of the players. Juniors however see this as a opportunity to come into first grade and show us why they have the bulldogs dnaVery fast demise. Would be good to know what really happened.
The article states he was relaying concerns of other Polynesian players so I guess we'll see if there is truth to this if others follow him out the door.pretty much I feel he overstepped his mark as a player and captain. what do we expect? It’s not the players who own the club.. I hope this pre season we don’t get the honesty sessions done more than actual condition/defensive training. We’re in a rollacoaster ride to rd 1 to see what they are going to produce. I’m excited cause if we don’t start the season off with 3/4wins out of 6 games then we’re gonna hit the nuclear button on the whole football departmentThe article states he was relaying concerns of other Polynesian players so I guess we'll see if there is truth to this if others follow him out the door.
That’s what he also said about the dumplings at the club’s Chinese restaurantGood -More cap room for a young hard nosed metre hungry prop
Peter Moore once said if you think you have enough props, get 2 more
You do realise that a big proportion of that is covered by medical insurance?I was reliably informed recently what the average "rehab" costs a club on top of their contracted salary.
Consider the multi year rehab projects we have endured just in the past 6 years....Foran, RFM, Thompson, Kikau (this year).
Then consider the $200-250K per year for rehab, surgery, medical costs, specialist therapy and focussed training after.
And then they leave the club and go on to being great.
